Robin attended one of my 30 Step Gradation dye classes. We use the kits from in the class. Robin chose a beautiful rainbow colorway. So when she found this tree panel she knew what she wanted to do. All the colorful tiles surrounding the panel are from the pieces she dyed. She also used some yardage scrunched (in the tray) dyed pieces for the backing. The stained glass look is so pretty!

I would like to introduce "The Hangar" (a private BnB).
A cozy guest cabin located in a quiet country setting just north of Walhalla, SC only a mile off the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway (SR 11). This cabin began as a "guest shed" for friends and family. It's just next door to my home. I have just recently decided that it sits empty away too often, so I'm opening it up to share with others that want to come to this area for work or play.

Cabin features:
Front porch with cafe table and chairs
Comfy queen size bed
Full bath with step in shower
Stocked coffee station with microwave and small refrigerator
Desk and office chair
TV with YouTube TV and several streaming options
Wifi
Air conditioner, ceiling fan, and infrared space heater (it'll run you out even on the coldest nights), & bathroom overhead heater w/exhaust fan.
Pool access during the summer months

Just a short drive to lots of things to do: waterfalls, hiking trails, shopping, restaurants, wineries, taprooms, golf courses, historic landmarks, Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee, river kayaking and tubing, scenic drives and overlooks ... And so much more.

15 minutes to Walhalla
30 minutes to Seneca, Clemson, and Cashiers (NC)
1 hr or less to Anderson, Greenville, Highlands (NC), Brevard (NC), Hartwell (GA), & Clayton (GA)
1.25-1.5 hrs to Asheville & Franklin
1.5 - 2 hrs to Maggie Valley, Bryson City

Wake up and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea on the front porch (beautiful sunrises if you like to rise early). Enjoy a day trip through the mountains and towns. Then once again settle down on the porch or out by the pool and enjoy a quiet evening before turning in for the night. If it's warm, enjoy a late afternoon or evening swim and watch the stars come out.

Book your stay and come to play (or work, if you must).
Daily, weekly, & monthly rates.

A few of the gorgeous results from the 30-Step gradation dye classes that I taught last month. They were so happy with the results they showed them off at the guild meeting. We all had a great time and I think we have a few more Dye-Addicts.
Next up... Ice dyeing (as soon as it's a little warmer)

Held a gradation dye workshop at my house yesterday. The fabrics have to process in 70°+ temperatures so my poor pups have to share their favorite place with some of the fabrics. (It's 15° outside this morning.)
They aren't thrilled, but they do tolerate it well enough. 🤣

I had the honor and pleasure to test the new Ava Hip Bag pattern by

This bag is bigger than I thought it would be. It will hold all your essentials and then some.
It sewed together nicely. It only took about 5 hours to complete the project.

It can be worn as a waist bag or crossbody. I prefer to wear it crossbody and really like the back zipper compartment. It has lots of pockets and built in card slots. It's going to be especially handy when I travel since it will carry all the things I'll need to keep on hand.

I love its versatility and think I'll try making a companion one at about 75-85% to be my quick-run bag.

The pattern is well written, clear, and easy to follow.

This pattern is currently on sale (until January 17) here: https://tinyurl.com/5n7d766y

There’s a step-by-step tutorial on Allsewpetite YouTube channel here: https://tinyurl.com/yvvwxtz6

You can see photos of other testers here: https://tinyurl.com/58tt28ak
Check these other makes so you can get an even better idea of just how roomy the Ava Hip Bag really is.

Please forgive my absence.
I'm going through a tough time right now adjusting to the death of my husband.
I will return to quilting and crafting but it may be a little while.

Main goal for this quarter - declutter & destash. Secondary goal - finish UFOs! I finished these 2 fidget quilts this week. I'll donate them to a local memory care facility. These are great scrap busters for material and bits and pieces of things we all seem to accumulate.

Destashing & decluttering... My most important goal this quarter. My 2nd goal is for the year - finish UFOs (unfinished objects).

This week I finished these 2 fidget quilts and will be donating them to a local memory care facility. I finished the tops a long time ago but just never took the time to attach the back & quilt it (stitch in the ditch). It took an hour to find, press, cut and attach the back. But so very satisfying to be able to move them out of my sewing haven.

Fidget quilts are great ways to use scraps of materials, clothes, etc and bits and pieces of other items like zippers, buttons, yarn, and just about anything else you have laying around. You don't need a pattern - just a desire to help someone while you're helping yourself (using up your scraps and bits).

I encourage everyone to try making one - or something similar. They're great for people with Alzheimers, tactile issues, dementia, and kids with development concerns.

Have questions? Ask away. You can also search the web and get lots of ideas.
