The air is getting crisp, the blankets are coming out, and Patrick and Virginia say it’s the perfect time to find a cuddle buddy! 🥰🐾

Both of these cuties are young, super friendly, and big fans of having another cat to share their days with. They’re already practicing their snuggle skills and can’t wait to bring those cozy vibes into a forever home. 🐱✨🐱

Meet Yasmine! 🌸✨

This gentle Foxhound has come such a long way in such a short time. Before coming to FDHS, Yasmine lived in a hoarding situation where all she knew was a small, cramped, dirty kennel. She had likely never touched grass, curled up in a clean bed, tasted yummy treats, played with a toy, or felt the comfort of loving arms around her.

But look at her now. 💕 Watching Yasmine explore the yard, sniff the breeze, and frolic like a real dog for the very first time has been nothing short of heartwarming. She is blossoming into the sweetest soul—friendly with people and other dogs alike.

Because of her past, Yasmine is still considered a bit of a flight risk and will need a secure home with safe outdoor spaces. She would also thrive with another confident dog who can help guide her through this new, happy life.

Yasmine is scheduled to be spayed soon and is officially accepting adoption applications on our website.🐾🩷

Good morning and happy Caturday, friends! It’s me, Miss Dove. ☀️😺

I’m technically the oldest “kitten” here at FDHS, but I’m still not even a year old yet. My very first birthday is coming up soon, and I’ve been waiting for six months now for my very own family to find me. 🎉💕

I’m what the humans call a “cat’s cat.” I love having kitty friends around, and I get along wonderfully with all the cats in my room. I vibe best when I have another furry friend to play with! 🐾🐱

I dream of the day I get to curl up in a comfy lap of my own human. Maybe I’ll be in my own home next weekend? 💕🏡

UPDATE: Chance is currently on a home trial with a potential family!

💔 Chance’s Second Chance 💔

One week ago, Chance came to us after being picked up by the Dog Warden as a “stray” near the Ranchland Motel. 🥺

But this sweet soul didn’t just wander off. He was skin and bones and missing most of his fur due to a horrific flea infestation and untreated allergies. 😭 The remaining fur was primarily matted. Due to the fleas, he was also severely anemic – a potentially life-threatening condition. At approximately 11–12 years old, Chance should be living out his golden years in comfort with his humans — not abandoned, starving, and suffering. 💔

This is the reality we face, day in and day out. Chance was somebody’s pet, yet nobody called, nobody came to get him. They failed him. 😔 Despite everything, Chance is the sweetest, most resilient soul you will ever meet. He doesn’t bark or misbehave; he just sticks by your side as the best leash walker you will find! His eyes are cloudy, but his heart is young. ❤️

Chance is finally receiving the medical care, nutrition and love he’s long been denied. 🙏 We can’t undo what was done to him, but we can make sure the rest of his days are filled with kindness, love, and care.

We may never know what Chance has faced in his life thus far, but we’re giving Chance every bit of hope we can for a bright future. Because every life matters — especially the seniors who've been forgotten. 💛

🐾 Happy Tail Update! 🐾

After patiently waiting 4 months at Fort Defiance Humane Society, sweet Buttercup finally found her forever home last month — and it was worth the wait after a rough start to her life along with her puppies! 💛

Her new dad shared this heartwarming update:
"Buttercup is doing great! We absolutely love her so much! She enjoys her big backyard and loves playing with our son. My son and Buttercup are 2 peas in a pod. She’s the best! She’s also the best cuddler ! I’m so glad we brought her home where she belongs!"

Stories like this remind us why we do what we do. Thank you to Buttercup’s family for giving her the love she deserves! 🐶🏡💕

Hi friends, it’s me, Cougar! 🐾🐱

I might have a wild name, but I’m more of a cuddle bug than a jungle cat. I am the last little lady from the Wild Cats litter still here at FDHS, and while my siblings have already gone on their adventures, I am still waiting for my very own family to scoop me up.

I have grown up with people, kitties, and even doggos, and I am not scared of them at all 🐶✨. I love making new friends, soaking up all the pets and cuddles I can get, and playing until it is time for another snuggle session.

Everyone says I am a confident little sweetheart, and will make a great addition to any type of family environment. 🏡🩷

OUR PURPOSE: • to prevent cruelty to animals and to relieve their suffering • to extend humane education together with such allied purposes and programs as are consistent with the by-laws of the Society • to effect vigilance and inspection when and where warranted, concerning the care and treatment of animals in Defiance County, including cruelty to animals • to give vigorous support for the purpose of improving all anti-cruelty and animal control laws • to work toward the solution of overpopulation of animals; • to promote and share responsibility for proper care and placement of animals; and • to enforce Ohio laws regarding the prevention of cruelty, especially to children and animals
