Scent Games is back by popular demand starting in the new year! Teaching dogs to use their natural ability to find things helps build confidence, provides excellent mental stimulation, teaches problem solving skills, and strengthens the bond between you and your dog. This class is great for puppies or dogs of any age or skill level whether they hope to compete someday or just want to have fun together. By the end of class teams will have all the skills needed to complete a Virtual Scent Title if they would like to. Did you know we offer Day Training at our private studio? This is a great option for people who have to work a long day, need to jumpstart behaviors, or just want to provide their dog with a day of enrichment. Some of our current day training clients love to drop off their dog while they run some errands, attend local seminars, or just need a day off from problem behaviors. Your dog will spend four to eight hours learning skills of your choosing, socializing with dogs, and meeting new people. Want to know the best part? Our Head Trainer has been asked to speak at the Canine Fitness Summit and we couldn't be prouder. Jamie will be presenting two lectures and three labs on a variety of fitness topics and training techniques. Motivational Monday! What motivates you? I learned yesterday that some people are motivated by pressure and shame. While I feel that and respond to it as well, why are we like this to ourselves but so kind and positive to our dogs? Let's talk about what we love and what we tend to enjoy or find rewarding. Is it a night out to a nice restaurant, time spent in the woods, a do nothing day, a sweet treat? And, how much do you love the activities you do with your dogs? Let's talk about how we can get motivated to train our dogs and incorporate canine fitness so we can keep doing the things we love with our dogs for a long time!

I started a sticker system. I earn a sticker every day that I train dogs that live in my house. If stickers aren't enough for you, what if for every 3 stickers you earned, you rewarded yourself with one of the things that brings you joy? Let's start incorporating positivity into how we deal with the human end of the leash!

Last but not least for Fall registration is our Scent Games class.

This unique class is for anyone interested in teaching their dog how to use their nose to find things, regardless of whether it's for competition, a job, or enrichment. Scent games are also a great way to build confidence, encourage working away from handler, and tire your dog out in a short time with little space needed. All games will lead to a strong search foundation and can be used to start a dog in scent detection, nosework, scent work, or just to find objects you've lost around the house. By the end of this class, you will even have the skills needed to earn a Virtual Scent Work title! Class is open to dogs 5 months and older who are comfortable working in a group setting and have basic obedience and manners skills. Class begins on September 15tth at 6:30pm at Quicksilver Canine and meets for 4 consecutive weeks. Cost is $140. Email [email protected] or PM to sign up.

Next class open for registration is AKC Canine Good Citizen Prep

This class will cover obedience behaviors including loose leash walking, polite greetings, stay, and recalls, just to name a few. Each week we will practice skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. On the last night of class, all students will have the option of taking the test. Class is
open to dogs 6 months and older who are comfortable working in a group setting and have basic obedience and manners skills. Class begins on September 10th at 2:30pm at Quicksilver Canine and meets for 4 consecutive weeks. Cost is $140. Email [email protected] or PM to sign up.

First class open for Fall registration is Fitness!

In this class you will learn age-appropriate games and skills activities to do with your dog
that will promote body awareness, coordination, and confidence navigating a variety of surfaces. You will practice basic targeting skills, foundation fitness behaviors, and have a chance to explore obstacle courses. Dogs 4-months and older can attend as well as adult dogs of any age that want to stay active and build confidence.
