Hi friends! We have exciting news… we’re expanding! 🦃🐓

Lovely friends to the sanctuary who have played an enormous role in the physical recovery of our dear Clover have been inspired and generous enough to offer to draft, build, and dedicate time to a new special needs enclosure for our bird residents. 💞 This is huge news and a total upgrade for our birds with mobility issues like Clover, Fraser, Patti, and any new friends in the future.

The structure takes into consideration the difficulties some of our birds may face when it comes to ramps or steps. The enclosure will house birds safely from predators and weather, as well as give us options for pairing animals together as needed, while also making the enclosure accessible for volunteers to maintain.

✨This is a big project and there will be several phases, so to start us off we’re asking for $500 to get the ball rolling. ✨ The goal is to complete the enclosure before August when rain will no doubt start pouring down again. Along with donations, we’ll also need some handy helpers to be part of our construction team. 🛠️ 🚧

⚽️ NEW BALL ALERT!! ⚽️

We recently had a ball stolen from our boys that had been generously handcrafted and donated, enjoyed by them all. 💔 Thanks to the amazing Kathy who made the first adorable ball cover for our steers, we’ve got a new one and it’s here to stay. Our cows are excited to once again have a new favorite toy to keep them entertained and exercised all summer long!!

This kind soul also made non-slip “pee pads” for transport crates using the leftover fabric from the previously stolen ball. Koko was kind enough to model their functionality and chicness!! 🧡🌺🌿

Thanks to all who shared the Wanted Poster in search of the ball and showed your concern. Another thank you to Kathy M all the way from TX for being the best - and likely only - custom cow ball cover creator!!

I think it’s safe to say we’ve started one of our favorite Wildwood traditions. 💖 Our team has been meeting once a month, for three months now, to treat ourselves to yummy vegan food in and around the Portland area and enjoying each other’s lovely company.

Yesterday we brunched at the delicious trying everything from eggs benedict to spaghetti to chai cheesecake! The second pic was last month’s get together at which was an amazing time. Our first ever meet up was at for dinner, another delicious spot to get vegan Mexican grub.

We have so many places to explore and foods to try! Let us know your recs and where we should go next ‘cause we love to eat! 🍴😋

Lark.🤍 Your story is incredible and lives on. You were our sweet, loving Larky boy at Wildwood, but on a greater scale, you were and will continue to be a symbol of freedom and justice.

We hope that every time people see a transport truck of animals on I-5, that they remember you, the individual, surviving the horrors of industrial farming to go on and have a unique, peaceful, beloved life. An individual, not a number. And also remember the billions who are not so lucky. And do something.

We invite you to share Lark's story far and wide: his legacy is to continue to change hearts and minds. To remind us we can opt out of cruelty in our daily choices. To fight injustice. To stick up for the most vulnerable.

We will continue to share your story, to not let you or the others be forgotten. Love and miss you forever!

Happy 1 year Volunteer Anniversary to Karl!! 🎉🫶

Karl has made an amazing addition to our animal care team, bringing so much knowledge and care when it comes to the health and comfort of our residents. She’s built beautiful bonds with all of our residents, especially with her best roo friend, Roadrunner. 🖤 Karl is always willing to lend a helping hand in everything from special projects to fundraising efforts. She does it all!!
