Embers first time in a shank bit and she was wonderful. If you’ve rode with me or watched my videos you’ve probably noticed most horses I ride are in a snaffle bit. Most of the time it’s because I’m on a c**t but sometimes I ride my older broker horses in them. I probably keep a horse in them longer than most would but my horses are supper prepared for that shank whenever it’s put in their mouth for the first time. I am a big believer in if you can’t accomplish it in a snaffle first go back to the basics because there’s holes in your training.

Sharpp Dressed Man had a great day today.

Taking 1st in all of his classes besides one 2nd under a judge.

Dolly didn’t have the best day but she did place in all of her classes. No pictures of her sadly.

Supper proud of the two I am getting the priveldge to show this year.

Stallions…

I hold a high standard when it comes to a stallions behavior.

We dont tolerate anything from a stallion, if he doesnt act like a gelding he will learn what being one feels like.

I see so many stallions that aren’t rode because they cannot be handled around mares. I’ve gotten in several for training that could only be rode by theirselves but their owner just doesn’t want to cut him.
There are so many good stallions out there, ITS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE to deal with a bad one.
I promise it’s not.

This is our junior stallion.
He bred his first mare this year.
He shows and he knows what a hard days work is.
We’ve owned a lot of stallions and most people don’t know which horses are the stallions they are until we tell them (besides the jaws on some😜)

In my opinion that’s the only way a stallion should be.
This guy will still make a mistake from time to time and try a little nicker, he’s a c**t that’s what they do. These mistakes are almost non existent.
But so far he’s earned keeping his jewels.
If not he’s just one vet appointment and a little cash away from losing them.
It’s that simple.

Today was the day that we’ve dreaded for a long time.
But I know Waylon isant in pain anymore, he can breathe and I’m sure heaven is full of alfalfa and hedge bushes that he trotted straight too with his big rough trot.

Waylon has been retired for the past 6 years living out his life in the best way I could give him.

I’m thankful for the memories he left with me but I sure will miss him.
