☀Summer is here☀
Here's a few tips to beat the heat🌡

🌊Always provide fresh, clean water.
🌳Ensure pets have access to shade and cool areas.
🔥Never leave you pets in vehicles without it running. Even a few minutes in a hot car can be deadly.
🐕Walk pets during cooler parts of the day (early morning or late evening).

🐾 Paw Protection
Pavement can burn paws; test it with your hand or use booties.
Grass or shaded areas are safer than asphalt on hot days.

🐕 Grooming
Regular brushing helps with heat regulation, especially for double-coated breeds.
Do not shave certain breeds. Their coats protect them from sunburn and overheating.

🦟 Parasite Prevention
Use vet recommended preventatives.
Heartworm prevention is essential during mosquito season.

🌞 Heatstroke Awareness
Signs of heatstroke are panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting.
If you think your dog is having a heatstroke, move to a cool place, give water, and seek vet care immediately.

🏖️ Outdoor Activities
Always watch pets around water or at gatherings.
Use pet safe sunscreen on noses or light skinned areas if needed.

🚒🐦‍🔥July 15th is officially National Pet Fire Safety Day, a reminder to protect our furry family members in the event of a home fire.

🔥 Why It Matters
Pet-caused fires:
Pets accidentally start roughly 750–1,000 home fires annually in the U.S.
Lives at stake:
About 500,000 pets are affected, and 40,000 die from fires each year.

✔️ Fire Prevention Tips
Pet‑proof your home: Block access to stoves, countertops, candles, space heaters, fireplaces, and open flames.
Use flameless candles and secure loose electrical cords.
Avoid glass bowls in sunlight (they can ignite decks).
Install fireplace screens and keep pets 3 ft away.

📝 Prepare an Escape Plan
Include pets in your family fire safety plan; assign roles (who grabs pets, who gathers supplies).
Practice escape drills with your pets to reduce panic.
Know where your pets hide, cats especially so you can find them quickly.

🆘 Build an Emergency Kit
Essential supplies include:
Food, water, bowls
Medications and veterinary/medical records
Leashes, carriers, blankets, towels
Photo ID of pets, updated collars & microchips
First-aid kit

🚨 Safety Measures at Home
Install and test smoke alarms monthly. Monitored alarms offer extra protection
Place pet alert stickers/decals on windows/doors with pet details.
Keep collars & leashes near exits and encourage pets to sleep near those points at night.

⚠️ During a Fire
Escape fast. never reenter a burning home.
Grab pets, leashes, and or carriers on the way out.
Call pets from a safe distance. Never put yourself at risk.

🧠 Quick Checklist
