Appointments: We have heard you and we are trying a new appointment software. Starting today, you will use https://calendly.com/berkeley-tnvr to book an appointment at 9:00am. We are hoping that there will be a decrease in the glitches for folks trying to sign up for appointments going forward. Please keep in mind there are dozens of people trying to sign up all at once, but there are only a limited number of appointments available.

Walk-ins: We will still accept walk-ins until we reach capacity each day. Our clinic typically accepts 40 cats per clinic day.

‼️ This is a service for Berkeley County Community Cats ONLY. Community cats are stray cats or feral cats, not pets.
‼️ Kittens are accepted as long as they weigh 2 pounds.
‼️ Nursing females can be spayed when her kittens are 4 weeks old. Pregnant cats can also be spayed.
‼️ There is a limit of 3 cats per person as of July 2025.
‼️ All cats will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ear-tipped. We accept 40 cats per clinic day.

Cats are accepted by appointments or walk-ins on a first come, first served basis.

𝗪𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞 𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗟 𝗪𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬.
🚶‍♀️ If you plan to come through as a walk-in, please arrive as early as possible as some trappers start lining up before 6:00am (this is not something we recommend, but it happens).

🚗 This clinic will have a drive-thru for check-in. Please wait in line, in your car, until all appointments are checked in by a volunteer. At that time, you may be directed elsewhere.

⏱ You will pick up your cat(s) the same day between 2pm – 5pm. If they are done early, we will contact you.

Please try to have that form filled out when you come to drop your cat(s) off, however, we will have blank copies available at the check-in.

TRAPS:
🪤 All cats must be in an appropriately sized cat trap. One cat per trap. Traps for ‘medium-sized animals’ work best. This is for the safety of the cats and the vets!
🪤 𝗡𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹! 𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗲𝘁𝗰. 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱.
🪤 Our volunteers will not transfer cats from the wrong type on the day of the clinic. Cats with the wrong cage type or in traps that are too small will be asked to reschedule.
🪤 We will ask you to label your trap(s) with your name and phone number. We will have labels at check-in if needed.

🪤 Trap rentals are available through Charleston Animal Society Berkeley Campus. Please visit the shelter IN PERSON for pricing and availability.

June's TNR clinics are over, and we want to take a minute to thank all the volunteers and trappers who made these clinics possible! We were able to help 105 cats this month 🙀 With how crazy kitten season has been this year, every cat put through TNR truly does work towards solving the issue.

Good luck to everyone who is trapping today for tomorrow's clinic! 😸

Remember to not leave your traps unattended for too long. This hot weather can be dangerous for the kitties, so check your traps frequently if you're trapping during full-sun hours ☀

All cats must be in their own trap, and all cats must be trapped in Berkeley County. Traps can be rented at Berkeley Animal Center starting June 16th for a $40 refundable deposit!

June is Adopt a Cat Month! 🙀 And it just so happens that our local shelters and rescues are up to their ears in cats right now....so basically it's the perfect time to adopt a cat if you've been thinking of doing it 😼

🐈 Forgotten Paws of the South has so many kittens who are almost ready for adoption! Check out their page and send them a message if you see someone you're interested in. (You can also foster with them too if you want something not as permanent!)
🐈‍⬛ Second Chance Sanctuary has so many friendly teenage and adult cats who used to be strays but have been given a second chance. See all the cuties they have available on their page
🐈 Berkeley Animal Center has taken in soo many kittens this year and they rely on the public's help with adopting and foster to make it possible for them to help even more animals. Head into the shelter when they're open to see who is available for adoption and foster!

Thank you for everything you’ve done for us and taught us!! We’re so grateful that we found a way to keep the program going for all the kitties and people who rely on it 💜💜

As many of you know, 3 years ago we launched a comprehensive Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Release (TNVR) program in partnership with Berkeley Animal Center (BAC) and Charleston Animal Society (CAS) in South Carolina. TNVR is critical for keeping the population of homeless animals under control, and for maintaining the health of community animals. Since we started, our monthly spay/neuter clinics staffed by our MSPCA veterinary teams have successfully provided spay/neuter to over 4,500 community cats.

When we began this program, the cat euthanasia rate was an incomprehensible 50%. Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, euthanasia has dropped to under 10%. Think about what this means for the lives of each of those cats, but also for the shelter staff and the volunteers who deeply love these animals. 

In addition to our TNVR work, our team has helped BAC to improve operational systems and overall shelter care. We’ve also maintained a regular relocation schedule with BAC and CAS.

It is bittersweet to share that last month’s clinic was our final one under this model, and we are no longer needed. This was always the goal: to empower the region to thrive without us. Charleston Animal Society is taking over operations at BAC, and will provide veterinary staffing for the ongoing clinics, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term sustainability.

We’re incredibly proud of the role we’ve played in helping BAC reach a more sustainable place. With CAS now at the helm, we’re confident this next chapter will build on the momentum and continue to improve the lives of pets, and the people who love them, in Berkeley County.

We apologize if this date change causes any inconvenience for anyone, we're working hard to lock down a consistent schedule for you all. But we are happy we were able to add 1 more date to July!

For all of these dates we will take up to 40 cats. Appointments will open for all dates the Monday before the clinic and as always we will still take walk ins.
