Puzzle Dogs

We played Happy Ratters again this weekend, and all three generations in our household got their A-MAZE-ing Rat level one titles! Addie also got her Rat Trap level one title! 🥳

Left to right: Pan (11 years old), Biz (7 years old), and Addie (1 year old)

Happy first birthday to The Happy Pills Litter! (Rivet x Bizza). It's been such a joy to watch you growing up, and I'm so excited to see where your lives continue taking you! Have a great day, baby girls! 🥳🥰💊

I spy, with my little eye, a Puzzle Dog petitioning to join the Knights of the Hound Table! Mooch (Benny x Bizza) worked multiple performances this weekend at the MN Renaissance Festival alongside his colleagues Juice and Ollie with panache and flair: check it out here!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Four of the five Happy Pills met up today for an early birthday party! We hiked, they ate (or let their mama Biz eat) cake, and it filled my heart with joy! We had some “hard mode” long line handling moments, but the dogs were good-natured about having their lines un-macraméd when they started to weave friendship bracelets. 😉

I think my very favorite part of being a breeder is this incredible community of people who are every bit as crazy about their dogs as I am. Thank you to our Puzzle Dogs family (and extended family!) for being your awesome selves, and helping to produce more *nice* dogs for other people to love as deeply as you love yours. 🥰🥹

Pan is available at stud to approved programs (frozen only; he was neutered two years ago to simplify heat cycles with his daughter and granddaughters, even though he’s always been easy to have around girls in season). His health testing results are all public on OFA.

I’m so thankful for eleven amazing years with the Goodest of Boys™️. 🥰🥹

Tonight he’ll be celebrating with eleven breads (his favorite food)!

Sagwa (Bender x Bizza) is hanging out here for a couple of days!

She, Biz, and Addie have been having a blast. Their favorite game appears to involve taking turns hunting one another for sport.

Like all Puzzle Dogs, she’s also a great hugger!

Pan got five new titles this weekend, and was so funny and zoomy in the ring! We learned that pizza bones (pizza crust) are waaaay too high-value when he completed his titling Champion level ratter run with 1.5 seconds to spare 😮‍💨, but on the plus side, he did the tunnel on the course at least 20 times in case his Auntie Sara hadn’t seen him do the burrow the first time. 🤣

His indications are the clearest and funniest, he pounces on the tube and bites whatever container or box or bag it’s in. He got bonus points on one run for very sassily and confidently ripping the blanket off of a hide. For a nearly 11-year-old dude, his joy at this game is unmatched! He had huge smiles for everyone there, and was so happy to get his extrovert batteries recharged with Aunties and Uncles and new friends galore! He says thank you to everyone who said hi to him, and he especially appreciated the applause when he earned his CHR title (he’s seriously the biggest ham, I love how prancy and happy he gets when people clap or cheer for him). 😍

Bizza earned four new titles this weekend at Happy Ratters (only three pictured because I literally just realized she got her Ratter Versatility title as I was making this post 😅)! She’s a thoughtful, happy hunter, and her indication is the cutest little tippy-tappy front toe dance on the rat.

Her favorite parts of Happy Ratters trials are bullying me for snacks from her Official Bossing Chair (any chair in the blind is an Official Bossing Chair if you’re enough) and getting lots of snacks when she tap-dances on the rats. Her least favorite parts are taking pictures with her loot, but she’s willing to humor me for snacks.

Addie got two new titles this weekend! She’s moved up to the Expert level in Happy Ratters, where she has to find three rats, bridge, and burrow. She’s a precise, careful searcher, and learning to read her subtle indications has helped me grow as a trainer and handler.

More important than titles though, she was a joy all weekend and had so much fun! She had woo-woos for her favorite people, got to be a worm-on-a-string meeting a bunch of new dog friends, was perfectly quiet and content in her crate, and was easy to have out whenever I brought her out to hang. She really liked sitting with me at the puzzle table in between runs, and just watching the trial.

Honestly, the biggest issue we had was that every time I brought her out to potty, she’d find a HOT, sunny spot to sploot and sunbathe. She’s solar-powered and needed to recharge. ☀️

Happy 4th birthday to the Dancers! May you have everything your heart desires (except for bunnies, please don't eat those)!
