Our mission is to teach, understand, and provide experience with horses. Hey there! I'm Ann Owner of D & D Ranch.

It's always been a dream of mine to run a business. I grew up riding horses, worked a number of barn jobs, and when I finally was able to get my first couple horses, I decided to open up D & D Ranch. Now 4 years later we have just expanded to a 10 acre farm across the street from HITS show grounds.

Week 7 Day 4. I am generally satisfied with the children's performance on the horses, but I am displeased with the conduct exhibited by a few of them. The essential point is that teamwork is crucial, and we should not be arguing over tasks such as hosing off horses, while neglecting other important responsibilities. This week, it is apparent that I did not prioritize team-building activities adequately. As a consequence of the children's inability to cooperate, the entire group participated in farm chores, including cleaning water troughs and feed buckets, sweeping floors and rooms, preparing feed, removing manure, collecting trash, and unloading hay. There was no play time this afternoon. I hope that tomorrow we can work collectively to care for all the horses.

Week 7 Day 3 ❤️ everyone had a great day! We fed the horses first thing this morning, and went right into riding the horses, the grooming equitment as well as the saddle pads got SOAKED from yesterdays horrible rain.
So we improvised, and got everyone on ba****ck today.
Some students practiced small jumps with no saddle, and others attempted to trot ba****ck.

Unfortunately, we did have a couple kids fall off today for the first time this summer 🤭
Everybody was fine, I even caught the moment on video.
Anytime you are learning how to do something you have a chance of falling off.
The more you ride horses, the greater risk of falling off.

I can say that I’m very proud of my two students who did fall off, they got back on the horses without any issues.

Week 7 Day 2 was a WET one 😩 I think the kids enjoyed it, I’m not so sure if I was too thrilled or how the parents felt about their soggy children coming home. But overall, it was a great day. We should be thankful for the rain and for it not being so hot out.
This is probably the biggest group we’ve had so far!
