Getting Bemer treatments is always a special day. When I purchased this blanket, I did it to help my old horses recover better and my young horses to be able to take in all the learning calmly.

In the past I’ve sold punch cards and provided treatment for others, but found that it was hard for me to find the time to travel.

I’m considering offering it’s availability once again.

Day 2 of P*e Wee Horse Camp

A fun filled morning of leading horses safely, making pool noodle stick horses and off to the races!

There’s still some exciting things to come next Wednesday! There’s room for 4 more kids to join us!

Thought I’d share this tidbit on a hot day.

Day 1 of P*eWee Horse Camp

We “talk” horse by our actions and presence. It is safest to approach a horse at their shoulder. We painted the ponies to show where we are safe. Our snack was “horse food” apples, peanut butter and granola. The day was wrapped up with a scavenger hunt and brushing Marshmallow.

Riding with Intention

It’s quite common for people to tell me, “I’ve ridden” when in reality they have been a passenger on a horse but there was no intention of guiding a horse or being a partner in a task.

When we ride with intention we are choosing language that our horse understands so we can reach a goal. We are aligning ourselves with our horse and guiding him clearly where we want to be. We are looking ahead at where we want to go.

Putting a stick in a bucket or going over a log/jump requires us to communicate effectively for correct body positioning of our horse.

Well done today Claire!

Proof of my performance 🤣

This has been quite the epic weekend. I do believe it’s been about 28 years since I’ve entered a rodeo, 30 since I’ve been super active.
It was time to stop living in the “used to” and getting out there.
It’s been fun. It’s been good for the soul.

Yesterday my run at Lovell wasn’t fast but it was solid. Today my run at Go Momma Go was a bit faster and still fairly solid. She’s working on her foot placement and knowing what to expect. I’m working on remembering what speed feels like 🤣

I often say I’m not a barrel racer and I need to stop saying that. I was and I still am. I’ve trained quite a few barrel horses that went on to be successful.
I would not allow my students to label themselves in that way, so it will stop.

This weekend was amazing because it lit 🔥 a fire that had been barely glowing.

30 years ago I was consistently going to rodeos and jackpots. I was seasoning horses by running barrels at the Cody Nite Rodeo several nights a week. I was roping with my dad and brother in the team roping.
That buckle made me laugh because we are entered in Ten Sleep on the 5th.

Fast forward to now. I’m just a few months shy of a half century old, I’ve not competed in a long time. There’s a big difference in competing and not competing. New and different struggles are present, different fears.

The game changer is that mindset will either paralyze you or remove the excuses.

Today I am running Elsie at the Lovell rodeo. It won’t be a blazing run, but she’s not in that phase yet. We will be increasing speed together at the right time. A horse that consistently has a beautiful pattern will be able to speed up and continue that beautiful pattern.

Here’s to a no excuse summer!

Mallory and Dream make quite the team! Mallory is the star student because she has shown huge growth in independence and willingness to try new things.
Lately she has been saddling and fo all the prep work for riding completely on her own. She is able to bridle and get on without assistance. During her ride she’s showing improved body control and ability to communicate with her horse using lighter cues and more consistency.
Keep up the great work Mallory!
