I have done many of these memorial posts over the years, losing dogs I’ve loved is always the hardest part of this business. But this one, this one is exceptionally hard because R***r was one of those dogs who broke the mold.
R***r forced me to be a better dog handler and a better person, he taught me how to work with a powerful dog without force and how to use relationship to build what we needed together. He showed me the power of loyalty, of never giving up, and of loving every day you’re given.
I first talked to his mom before I even moved to Tacoma, because she was looking for a petsitter and I’ll never forget that conversation. She had just adopted this intense doberman with no prior training, and we bonded over deep conversations about training. R***r used to greet people by launching himself at their face and let me tell you, that’s an intimidating greeting! But he also loved his favorite stuffy Sharkie, was a professional cuddle bug, and loved to learn new things and explore new places. He was one in a million, and his presence on this earth with be forever missed.
Until we meet again R***r, fly high and enjoy chasing those heavenly rats. We will look after your mom until she’s able to join you again. Love you Danger Dog!
