Spin it!!! I'm watching this one guy spin it's cocoon. I had to pluck 3 other guys away because they all wanted the same spot to spin their cocoon.
The rest of the crew is preparing for this stage as well!
Super excited. It did take them a little while to grow but we are finally here at this stage! Looking forward to seeing them in moth stage!

Silkworms are another species we are working with behind the scenes!
3 moth species total.
Hornworms, silkworms and wax worms!
Silkworms are such a fascinating and versatile little creature. I thought these guys would eat more than the hornworms but no i was wrong nothing beats how much those hornworms eat!

AGNARA MADAGASCARIENSIS "Thai" isopods are another type of isopods we are working with behind the scenes. One brave fellow finally kind of held still long enough to get a somewhat legible photo 😂
Oh also an update on Ulysses! He's burrowed! Now we shall wait and see patiently!

06/23/2025

Ulysses finally decided! Look at that gorgeous pulsating black line. But ugh yes he's still eating 😂
On average a hornworm will eat about an ounce of food i swear he's had to have eaten atleast 4..
Hoping he burrows today!
Please root for a successful transformation!

I'm so nervous but potentially excited. I'm on a learning curve with these hornworms but look who i found like this this morning!
He was wandering the soils last night... Pre signs of pupation even though he's on the smaller end...
This AM i wake up and i thought he was a gonner! Very saddened i grabbed him he was firm but not moving. I then felt his little grippy feet working! Ok so my thoughts were put him back gently he might be dying or maybe just maybe getting ready to pupate. I went to check again and look! He is getting ready to pupate! I'm a nervous wreck ( in maybe a good but obsessive way?) I'm just unsure why he didn't burrow for the process? Or if this is still normal and burrowing comes later. Idk if i should gently cover him or not.
I'm mulling things over in my head while i sip on more coffee.
I NEED all fingers crossed and everyone rooting for a successful transformation please!

Here are two more we are working with behind the scenes! I fell so hard for the green banana roaches that we also started the " giant" version this fellow is my first adult from the batch I got! Did not want to hold still at all for a photoshoot. The size difference is noticeable but not significant. We need green bananas to be the size of a hisser! How cool or maybe terrifying would that be!?
We also have armadillidium vulgare " punta cana" isopods.
Looking forward to creating new " menus" as things become available!
Alot of these species we are working with won't become available for a while!
The process will take time but words can't express how much joy this brings to my life and how far we came from when we first started!
Again thank you all for your support because without you all we truly would not be able to do what we do!

I check on these guys so many times throughout the day. But wow I have to clean them multiple times a day. When they said they relieve themselves a lot they were seriously not joking!
ON A SIDE NOTE.
Would anyone be able to drive me and or just my husband to advanced auto parts so we can get a new battery and alternator for the car? In exchange I'll give you bugs of your choice ( anything off the menu plus discoids, and 3 types of isopods we have available) we are out of large crickets until sorting day.
Or we can give you cash for gas whichever preferred!

It's been a little bit chaotic!
since I didn't get a chance to post daily new reveals here is 3 in one shot!
The Malaysian micro roaches are so tiny! It will be interesting when it comes to harvesting!
The yellow gyna luridas we have are all so tiny still but I can't wait till they grow into beautiful adults! Even the nymphs are really adorable! Only starting with 5 of these guys but so worth the future outcome! Last but not least for this post we are also working with armadillidium klugiis.

Finally seeing some colors on my Halloweens!!! Also finally saw one of my smokey oaks today! They are growing up so fast! ( But slowly)
Also had to spend about 30 minutes separating these 2 hornworms. One hornworm had a massive grip on the little one! Gripped by bottom end! Hornworms definitely will take time and some trial and error but we will not give up!
So much to do but so little time in the day!
