*ATTENTION PET OWNERS*

The microchip company Save This Life has suddenly ceased operations. Unfortunately, this means there are multiple pets chips that have now become unregistered and untraceable. If your pet is microchipped it's important to take immediate action and check to see your information is still connected to your pet's microchip.

Here are some steps to check your dogs microchip information:

1) Check your pet's paperwork: Any adoption contracts or medical records would have your dog's microchip number. You can also call your vet to see if they have one on file.

2) Scan for the Chip: Go to any local shelter or vet's office and have them scan your pet for a microchip.

3) Identify the Chip: If the microchip number starts with 991 or 900164, it's likely from Save This Life.

4) Check the Microchip number: Use the AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool to see if your pet's microchip is registered with any active database.

How to Re-Register the Microchip:

If your pet's microchip was through Save This Life have it re-registered as soon as possible with another company. Some reputable options include:

1)AKC Reunite

2) PetLink

3) 24PetWatch

4) HomeAgain

5) Found Animals (offers free registration)

Here are a few additional tips:

1) Keep you microchip information up to date. Make sure that your phone number and address are current on the microchip.

2) Make sure that your pet has multiple ways to be identified. Have your pet wear a collar/harness with a tag that has your up to date information.

Please remember that a microchip only works if you keep your contact information up to date and it is actively registered. Taking these steps will help increase your pet's chances of returning home safe and happy.

If your pet is not microchipped stop by our shelter at 322 E Ferguson St. We offer microchipping for $10 cash or check per animal.
