In my mind as a Veterinarian it equals parasites. During the drought parasite eggs have not been hatching, they will now. Plan on deworming your flocks and herds in 2 weeks. Without treatment you will see heavily infected animals and the problems associated with parasites like slow growth, diarrhea, bottle jaw and sudden death.
The larva crawl up on the new grass that the rain brings and are injested in large numbers.

Look at this fun that Julie sent us from Tillamook! It's shaped like a pint of cream! The Tillamook Cheese Factory is always an interesting place to stop and visit (and get ice cream.) And the Oregon Coast sounds like a great way to spend the weekend!!

In light of the recent fires, someone asked us to remind/suggest that people PRACTICE their evacuation plan. (Just like the fire drills that we did in elementary school.) Because having a plan and executing that plan during an emergency are different. Your pets may react to your stress, so a loading process that normally takes 20 minutes may take 45 minutes during an emergency.
He suggested you know where your halters and leads are. Check your trailer tires regularly. Make sure there is fuel in the truck. Know where your dog's collars leashes and crates are. And practice, practice, practice.
