A few of our newest teenage hens started laying this week 🐔
👀 at those smaller beautiful turquoise eggs. The photos do not do justice! The photos are dull compared to the true colors.
- Young hens new to laying generally have smaller sized eggs but as the months ago on, the eggs get larger.
We have hens that lay various colors; pinks, cream, terracotta, terracotta with specks, different shades of greens and blues.
🥚So, if you have any interested in purchasing Easter eggs without the need of dye, or, want to serve your children green eggs and ham- give us a holler (or message) 📢

I was so very excited to go into the garden yesterday evening and find a gazillion ladybug larva at different stages, all over my cucumber and squash. I put my finger next to one so you can see just how tiny they are starting out, then there are medium and large size larva and then I got lucky enough to find a full grown ladybug next to itty-bitty baby larva on the same leaf.
The garden is growing like crazy, but that means more bugs.
Luckily, those growing ladybug, larva and full grown ladybug, have enough to chow down and thrive.
We do not use pesticides in our garden.
The Creator developed the circle of life for a reason, we try not to interrupt that cycle.
Does it mean frustrating times when gardening? Absolutely!
As you can see in the photos, many of my squash leaves are damaged and turning yellow and brown. I do go squash bug and vine borer larva hunting. But I do not use sprays that will kill other bugs in the garden, such as ladybugs.

Ladies- Be proud of your curves!
The Creator even gave plants curves to decipher between male and female 😉

Can you identify a female flower and a male flower on squash, watermelon, pumpkin, zucchini and cucumber plants?
Here are examples using my plants.

Thankful Tori got this photo, this is sheep tipping. I can easily check hooves, give medication, shear, and check them over using this method which is supposedly comfortable to sheep. Our sheep were pretty full from grazing so they weren’t too impressed with the tipping.
With all the rain, our soil has been wet causing soft hooves. Last night I was treating hooves and checking over the babies.
Isn’t he precious?!? 🥰
Other photos of the sheep, chickens and Lu (mini Aussie) mingling. Lu is better with the sheep, slowly acknowledging their existence.
PSA- chickens see red very well. Open-toed shoes and bright red polish is not ideal. They would not leave me alone 😆

Nothing like little sister pushing you around and then chasing the ball with the dogs.

Great idea when dealing with vine borers!
Spent the evening last night spraying BT and smashing borer grubs.
Vine borers and squash bugs are the garden roaches for me

The photos make the lambs seem larger than their true size. They are shorter than my knees, weigh 30 (ewe) and 40 (wether) lbs, and for a better example - Poppy (ewe) is laying in the seat of the car.
Both are getting more comfortable with us and the dogs, as you can see in the photo with our GSD. The other day, I was giving the chickens treats; I could feel the sheep breathing on the back of my legs. They have figured out where the chickens treats are 😬.
