The Humane Society of Tulsa has assisted law enforcement in countless cases of animal neglect, abuse, dogfighting, illegal breeding, and even homicide investigations. Our team has mobilized in emergency situations, from floods to tornados to emergency transports, and every time our community is right alongside us—supporting our mission to save lives.

On July 14th, 2025 our team conducted our largest rescue operation in over 20 years.
Since then our incredible community has helped our team care and advocate for 400+ little lives who could not speak for themselves. We’ve posted updates and shared the good, the bad, and the ugly of this record breaking rescue…and it’s time for one last update.

‼️As of today, August 7th, we have been GRANTED LEGAL CUSTODY of the 400+ Malteses seized in Stroud, OK‼️

This means it’s time to start placing these babies in forever homes! 🥹💙🎉

We will accept applications at https://www.tulsapets.com/adopt-a-dog THURSDAY August 7th through SUNDAY August 10th. If you apply outside of this timeframe we cannot guarantee your application will be considered.

On your application, please list your preferred age (Puppy, Adolescent, Adult, or Senior) and s*x (Male or Female). If you are pre-approved, staff will match you with a Maltese according to your preference, as available.

We will NOT begin making contact with applicants until August 12th, at the earliest. PLEASE be patient! We are a small, but mighty, team and we will do our best to respond to all inquiries!💪🐾

Other information:
▪️Adoption fee is $350. This includes vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, dewormer, heartworm test, and more!
▪️These dogs have NEVER been in a home before. Please take this into consideration when determining the best fit for your household.
▪️ALL approvals will be made in the best interest of the dogs.
▪️Adoption process for puppies may take several weeks, as many are still nursing and NOT available at this time.
▪️While there are NO geographic boundaries for adoption, you will be required to complete your adoption in person at our adoption center.
