Prepare for total cuteness overload! This handsome little guy is Buccaneer, the absolute sweetest Husky puppy, and he was the ultimate good boy for his final set of puppy vaccines! 🐺💙

Buccaneer experienced the ultimate "Fear Free" treatment during his visit. He was so blissfully distracted by a steady stream of delicious cheese and treats that he didn't even notice Dr. Broadbooks giving him a full physical exam! After a mountain of puppy love, tasty snacks, and a literal blast of fun bubbles, Buccaneer's visit was a massive success. He left with a wagging tail and zero worries!

It’s one of the most common misconceptions in pet care! While keeping your cat indoors protects them from many outdoor hazards, it does not make them immune to fleas and ticks.

Here is why every indoor cat needs year-round protection:

Pests hitchhike on you: Fleas, flea dirt, and ticks easily ride inside on your clothes, shoes, or on the family dog. Once inside our climate-controlled homes, fleas thrive, multiply, and quickly find your cat.

Mice bring them inside: Mice and other small rodents frequently squeeze into walls, attics, or basements, bringing a heavy load of fleas and ticks right into your cat's territory.

The window screen trap: Cats love lounging by open windows. However, microscopic flea larvae and hungry ticks can crawl right through standard window screens to reach your pet.

Indoor indoor risks: Pests cause serious medical issues. Fleas can cause severe allergic dermatitis (intense itching and scabs), tapeworms, and life-threatening anemia from blood loss. Ticks carry dangerous blood-borne parasites that can make a cat incredibly sick very quickly.

🚨 PUPPY ALERT (And we need your help!) 🚨

Look at this sweet face! 🥹 This little guy came into the clinic for his first checkup, and to say the entire staff fell head over heels would be a massive understatement.

He was a tiny bit nervous about his big doctor's visit, but he brought his favorite stuffed turtle along for moral support (and a lot of extra cuddles from our team helped too!). 🥰🐢

Many pet owners think skipping a dose or pausing protection during cooler months is safe. But when it comes to heartworms, consistency is everything.

Here is why year-round, uninterrupted prevention is non-negotiable:

Mosquitoes don't use a calendar: Mosquitoes only need a brief window of 57°F weather to wake up and transmit heartworm larvae. A single random warm day in late autumn or winter is all it takes to expose an unprotected dog.

Preventives work retroactively: Heartworm medication doesn't form a shield; it acts as a "reset button," clearing out any microscopic larvae your dog was exposed to over the past 30 days. If you skip a month, those larvae can mature into adult worms that medication can no longer eliminate.

Prevention vs. Treatment: A year of prevention is affordable, safe, and easy. Treatment for an active infection costs thousands of dollars, takes months, and requires strict, painful crate rest because the foot-long adult worms cause permanent damage to the heart and lungs.

💙 Meet Zero! 💙

This handsome and courageous boy visited us at Kindness Animal Hospital recently for his regular vaccines, but also to get some itchy skin concerns and a potential hotspot checked out.

Hotspots and skin irritation can be incredibly uncomfortable, but Zero’s amazing owners did an absolute textbook job of managing his symptoms and keeping him comfortable at home until they could get him in to see us! (Give yourselves a pat on the back, mom and dad! 👏👏)

Zero was such a brave patient throughout his entire visit, and as you can see, he even posed perfectly for his photo op before heading home. What a total professional! 📸✨
