Miss Maggie May's Rescue

Miss Maggie May's Rescue We are an all volunteer foster home based rescue group. We provide medical care, spay/neuter and vaccinations to the dogs in our care

Back in 2012, we saw a need for a rescue that was devoted to puppies, pregnant dogs, and families; and formed Miss Maggie May's Rescue. The rescue was named after the first foster we took in under a different rescue. Maggie was only 35 pounds (her ideal weight should of been 60 pounds), within 12 hours of being with us, she gave birth to 11 pups with only 5 surviving. We ended up adopting Maggie

and she was with us until 2021 (11 years). Over the course of the years we have shifted to bringing in dogs of all ages and sizes from shelters, and owner surrenders (to keep them out of the shelters). We are an 100% volunteer organization, and all donations go towards taking in these homeless dogs (as room in private foster homes permit), giving them love, any needed medical, training, and finding them new homes. All dogs and puppies are micro chipped, spay/neuter, and current on core vaccinations at time of adoption. Adoption fees alone does not cover the costs of food, medical and supplies that these puppies and dogs need so they can shine in their new homes. Donations (we are a 501c3) and Foster Homes are important parts of the equation in order to keep the rescue running and open.

Well, we did it!!! We have reached another year!!!! Celebrating 13 years!!! Just like years past, we are reaching out for donations to celebrate. Just like the majority of rescues we keep finding ourselves short on funds which limits how many dogs and puppies we can take in. It costs about $300.00 a month to keep everyone fed for 6 to 8 weeks. We just had 4 pups altered to the tune of $450.00, plus supplies take up a chunk of our funds.
So let's see how many $13.00 donations we can get to celebrate 13 years.

COURTESY POST

Meet Mister! 🐾

Mister is a neutered, almost two year old Min Pin mix looking for a new family! He is around 6 or 7 pounds. He currently lives with dogs and cats of varying sizes, and gets along great with all of them.

He originally came from PACC with two siblings, and though his previous adopters adored him, he has found himself in need of a new place to stay through no fault of his own.

He bonds incredibly closely with his people, and always wants to be near them. He loves to be held and carried around, or in your lap if you’re settling in. He is happy to go on long walks with you, or relax the days away. He is very playful and full of character!

He is mostly potty trained, but can have accidents if his signals are missed or he isn’t let outside regularly. He is crate trained and happy to sleep there or with you. He will likely be fearful of new people at first, and will need a patient family who gives him time to get comfortable.

Overall, he is an easy and happy little dog. He is not officially a Miss Maggie May dog and is only being posted as a courtesy to his current fosters. Please reach out via Messenger if interested in him!

Meet Karen

We were told that she is a Pug/Beagle Mix she is currently 9 weeks old.

Karen is a sassy, feisty, outgoing little girl she is always on the move. We were lucky to get the pictures we did. Karen has learned to go to the corner of her pen and climb up like using a ladder, she was found running around outside of the pen. Besides being a wiggle worm, Karen is also an escape artist and is quick to get by you, and most likely will be a door dasher if given the chance. She would do best in a household that can handle a very active young puppy and keep her in a secure place when they are not at home.

Karen is still learning puppy basics 101, what is ok to chew and what is not, and potty training.

Karen loves toys that crinkle and is often moving a toy twice her size across the floor.

Karen's adoption fee includes her age appropriate vaccines (adopter responsible for remaining vaccines), microchip, spay and de-worm.

Say hi to Ruth!

Ruth is said to be a Pug/Beagle Mix and is 9 weeks old. Ruth is a very busy gal and she can jump high for her age, but her long legs may be helping.. Ruth loves attention and will hold still for a bit in a lap, before she is off again exploring and wrestling with her siblings.

Ruth is still a young puppy and needs guidance in learning puppy basics, like potty training, what not to chew and overall manners that a young puppy must learn. She loves to chew on hard toys and loves toys that crinkle. She loves to rearrange her blankets to her liking.

Ruth's adoption fee includes her current age appropriate vaccines (adopter is responsible for remaining vaccines), deworming, and her microchip. She is already spay and ready to go.

Meet Craig

Craig is a quiet laid back guy. Don't get us wrong though, he is still pretty much a puppy, but with 3 sisters he is the odd puppy out and puts up with their shenanigans. Craig loves his crinkle toys and can be seen chewing on a hard chew toy.

We were told that he is a Pug/Beagle mix and he is 9 weeks old. Craig does have short legs and he is a solid round lovable puppy. Craig needs a family that will enjoy his quiet side and guide him while he learns puppy basics and manners, what not to chew, potty training and continued training as he grows.

Craig's adoption fee includes his neuter, age appropriate vaccines (adopters are responsible for remaining vaccines), deworming and microchip.

Lucille is said to be a Pug/Beagle Mix and about 9 weeks old.

Lucille is short and a little bit on the quiet side, but if she wants something she will let you know. She sometimes can be found under her blankets after she rearranges them. Lucille is a little overshadowed by her sisters Ruth and Karen who are very active busy puppies. Lucille loves to pose for pictures as you can tell by her photos.

Lucille will need a family that will guide her while she learns puppy manners, what not to chew, potty training and all the other stuff puppies must learn as they grow.

Lucille's adoption fee includes, age appropriate vaccines, de-worming, spay and microchipped (adopter will be responsible for remaining vaccines and registering her microchip.

Many dogs and puppies have gone through our rescue over the last 12 and a half years. Some touch our hearts far more than others. Some end up staying in your life for many years. Here is the story of one of those dogs.
Baby was dumped at the my son's house a little over 11 years ago, by a friend (back yard breeder) of one of his roommates. She was pregnant by her father and 9 months old. My son took on the responsibility of caring for her. After a week, Baby was transferred to the rescue and he fostered her. A couple of weeks later I got a phone call at midnight and all I could hear were a bunch of guys asking when "is she going to have another puppy?", I loaded up the car with the supplies that were already packed and headed over there. When I arrived my son was out front starting to call me. I walked into about 5 or 6 guys in the house one holding the first puppy, I sent the room mate out to get the supplies, told my son to grab the pup and take it to where he wanted her set up. Baby followed her pup and the I proceeded to kick out everyone that did not live there including the back yard breeder, who confronted me and said, "that is my dog". I quickly informed him of the law and since he dumped her at the house and was never heard from over the last three weeks, Baby now belonged to the rescue. I stayed until Baby had her 2nd puppy and showed them what they needed to watch for and left. Baby's litter was a mix of blue, brown/white, white/black pitties and one that looked like his daddy who was a staffordshire. When the puppies were 5 weeks old my son came home to 3 missing puppies, his roommate allowed the BYB to come into the house and he took one, the other 2 ended up at the roommate's parents house. The roommate was kicked out. The BYB's girlfriend started harassing and threatening my son, and he was coached on what to tell her, and that soon stopped. Sometime later Baby got out and was missing overnight, but was found and returned to finish raising her pups. Baby was adopted by my son as well as Zara the staffy. Baby had already gone through enough in her short life at that point. Baby was a fence jumper and got in a little trouble. One night someone had forced open the broken gate and let both Baby and the other dog out and took Zara. So the hunt was on for him, Someone posted him as found on Craigslist, but when we called he said that Zara ran off (Zara was 5 months old then). Zara was found 3 houses down, and I went over to get him. The lady of the house said they didn't want to go door to door, because he was a staffy. She gave her husband a dirty look when I mentioned the Craigslist posting and then no contact as to where he ran off from. But the priceless moment came when they were informed that not only was Zara neutered, but he was also micro-chipped, that guy's mouth about fell to the ground. We figured out it was him that posted the found ad. In the meantime both Baby and the other dog was at PACC someone found them and called animal control who picked them up that night. Both Baby and my son had been through a lot together over the years. A couple of months ago Baby was taken to the vet for a cough and masses were found in her lungs, she was having issues with breathing. An ultrasound showed the masses were primary tumors, a fast moving cancer, and her chest was full of fluid. Over the last several weeks she continued to get worse. This morning another vet visit, because her leg was swollen and draining. Her breathing was labored.
We said good bye to Baby this afternoon, she got lots of kisses. While our hearts ache we take solace in knowing that she found a great home where she was greatly loved.

Such a cute puppy pile. More pictures to come. They are out of PACC and now in one of our foster homes. They explored their pen and toys. There is actually a toy under that pile of pups.
