Arizona heat can become dangerous for pets in a matter of minutes.
Early signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, and vomiting. Without prompt treatment, this condition can quickly lead to organ failure.

If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and head to an emergency hospital right away. Cooling at home is not enough on its own.

Prevention is key—avoid walks during peak heat and never leave pets in parked cars, even briefly.

We are available 24/7 to provide rapid cooling and critical care when heat emergencies happen.

It's National Pet ID Week - a terrific opportunity to remind pet owners to double-check that their pet's identification is up-to-date. If you've recently changed addresses or phone numbers, be sure your contact information is updated on your pet's microchip. Your veterinarian can help with that!

It's National Dog Bite Prevention Week! What is most important to note is any dog can bite: big or small, male or female, young or old. Even the cuddliest, fuzziest, sweetest pet can bite if provoked, so it's important to know how to avoid escalating risky situations and to understand when you should and should not interact with dogs.

Here are a few scenarios when you should avoid petting a dog. You can find more helpful tips at avma.org/DogBite

Living in Tucson means sharing the desert with wildlife—including rattlesnakes. While most encounters are avoidable, curious pets can get too close, and a bite can become life-threatening very quickly.

You may notice sudden swelling, bruising, or significant pain. Some pets become weak, collapse, or even have trouble breathing as venom spreads.

If this happens, keep your pet as calm and still as possible and go straight to an emergency hospital. Avoid home remedies like tourniquets or attempting to remove venom—they can do more harm than good.
With fast treatment, including antivenom and supportive care, many pets recover well. Timing is everything.

Our emergency and specialty teams are ready 24/7 to respond when every minute counts.

Heartworm disease starts with a single mosquito bite, but what happens next can be anything but simple.

Prevention is easy to stay on top of. Treatment? Not so much. It can be more complex, more expensive, and requires ongoing veterinary care. 🏥

Helping clients understand that difference can make all the impact when it comes to keeping pets protected year-round. 🌳
