This May will be FOUR years since Tim & Kari purchased home & property from the retiring owners of Royaile Pet Lodge, a family owned boarding facility since 1982! Como Pet Lodge’s formation built upon the family’s legacy as one of the few boarding facilities serving Tucson’s far Northwest rural communities.
Over the years, Como evolved from a turn-key boarding facility into a Pack Therapy Center focused on building happier & healthier dogs living in a human world! As that philosophy deepened, our nonprofit, Como Animal Works, was developed to help keep dogs in loving homes & out of overcrowded shelters.
Como Pet Lodge & Animal Works community impact vision began with our Shelter Bypass Program with the goal of keeping dogs in healthy loving homes as their people navigate a temporary life crisis. Our approach includes working with the dogs & owners on improving the animal-human relationship by unlocking the psychological needs of the dog through pack therapy. While in the program, Como provides a safe space for decompression, allowing dogs to help heal dogs in a pack environment. One dog’s care averages $1,700 a month for food, housing, deferred medical care, and support decompression and pack therapy
Unfortunately, not all dogs are reunited back into their homes. Committed to our mission, Como assumes the care of all surrendered dogs, continues to help build the dog’s confidence and begin the search for a new forever home.
As a family owned business your pets are our family too! Como offers support and resources to ensure that dogs stay in loving homes & out of overcrowded shelters.
Como currently has over a dozen dogs looking for the right home where they can continue to grow into the happiest, healthiest dog they can be!
Please take a look at our dogs available for adoption & see if they are the right fit to make your family complete.
