Sunshine Acres Dachshunds Welcome to Sunshine Acres Dachshunds! Our beginning starts out in 2014. After being married for 2 years, Arayah started to get the fever... Puppy fever, that is.

With her husband Jamey's help, and with no intention of breeding these little beauties, they began their search for the perfect little pup companion to add to their family. Flynn, the prettiest black and tan dapple you ever laid eyes upon (at least in mommy's version of this story), joined Jamey & Arayah's family on their 3rd wedding anniversary! It was meant to be. fect pup that either of them had ever owned; thus, making them fall even harder in love with the dachshund breed. Now, once you meet a dachshund owner, you'll know they are like Pringles- you can't have just one Doxie! So Prissy came to join the family in the Summer of 2015 as Flynn's beloved puppy-bride. Let me add here that at time time, Arayah still was questioning if she was cut out to raise puppies, like some of her wonderful (and knowledgeable) breeding friends do. BUT! Seeing Flynn and Prissy together, well. It just made sense! And not to mention, her background of being a labor & delivery registered nurse, helping raise cocker spaniel puppies growing up, and also co-owning a cattle farm with Jamey... Well, you get it. She's a natural. So now, their family was complete!... Almost. Once Jamey laid eyes on an ee cream puppy, he caught the fever, and specifically requested to add one of those pretty blondes to their family "one day". That "one day" came Thanksgiving week of 2015, when they added Sunni as their puppy baby. So now, I can officially say that our family is complete! It has been an absolute joy to watch these babies grow up and it is my goal to bring one of these precious, snuggly, loving companions to your home just like we did with Flynn, Prissy, and Sunni. Each add the character and the fun you can only experience by being a Doxie owner. And each are loved like they are our own, personal, children. They may be too rotten, but I don't think that's a real thing anyway ;)
Help us add one more chapter to the story of our family by supporting us as we continue to raise our pups and help them raise their own pups! We are a very small home-based breeding program. All of our doggies are registered through AKC and receive the best vet care possible. Our puppies go home with limited AKC registration, their first round of shots/wormings, a health guarantee, and a puppy pack! Our miniature dachshunds carry for cream, chocolate, and dilute, as well as producing dapple pattern combinations.

🐾 A Little Bittersweet News from Our Dachshund Den 🐾

Since 2016, I’ve had the absolute joy (and occasional chaos!) of raising 55 longhaired dachshund puppies. It’s been a journey filled with sleepless nights, wagging tails, and that irresistible puppy breath. We’ve celebrated milestones and mourned heartbreaks - especially the two precious boys who were born sleeping. Along the way, I’ve made lifelong friends and memories I’ll cherish forever. 💛

A huge thank you to Cecilia and Gina for trusting me with my very first pair of dachshunds - the duo that started it all and still have my whole heart. To Jaci and Deonna, thank you for allowing me to bring Sunni and Millie into my program, which beautifully expanded my lines. Sunni has left quite the legacy of gorgeous, sweet pups! And to Jennifer, for sharing your wisdom, friendship, and endless dachshund knowledge. You’ve truly been such a gift.

After much thought, I’ve decided it’s time to retire from breeding due to ongoing health challenges. My focus now will be on giving my six beloved adults the spoiled, happy life they’ve more than earned… think extra cuddles, treats, and maybe a little less puppy chaos for all of us. 😉

To everyone who has supported me, followed my journey, adopted one of my babies, or simply cheered from the sidelines - thank you from the bottom of my heart. To the 45 wonderful families now raising a Sunshine Acres baby (or two… or three ☺️), I couldn’t be more grateful for you.

Here’s to a new chapter filled with naps, belly rubs, and the dachshund kind of happiness that never fades. 🐶❤️
