You will know by the end of this post if this horse is meant for you.
Unfortunately for Wednesday, most of our currently interested adopters are looking for beginner safe. Wednesday is absolutely not beginner safe. Even intermediate safe would be pushing it. She is a horse who truly needs an experienced, advanced, patient, person.

The main issue is aggression (yes, real aggression). Her behavior is relatively predictable - when going to catch her, if you just walk towards her, by the time you get 15 feet or so away she pins her ears, swings her butt towards you, and will back towards you kicking until you leave (and trust me, you will! She's big.)
She can, will, and has kicked people for standing too close to her. She has a big bubble. She also will bite, though kicking is the big thing.
Why she acts this way is unknown. We have to the best of our ability ruled out physical cause. She did have a bad tooth removed, so it shouldn't hurt anymore, but she probably believes that if we catch her we will hurt her. Her tongue has a crush injury from rough handling at some point.
So how do we catch her? Over the fence. If there is a barrier between her and us, she allows us to clip the lead and once the lead is on, she settles significantly. She is really a different horse with the lead on.
Still reading? Yay! Let's get to the good things about her, of which there are many.
Wednesday is only 12 years old, she's healthy with no known health issues. She is about 16.3/17hh. Once caught, she leads, ties, and trailers well. She picks up her feet ok, but does prefer stocks for trimming.
She actually is well broke to ride. She likes trails, has a nice slow jog, and overall is really fun to ride.
Wednesday needs someone patient and experienced to help her learn that people aren't scary and she doesn't need to protect herself. This will take time and patience. If she is to be boarded, the boarding facility owner will need to talk to us so we can ensure the setup will keep staff and other boarders safe. We will not be considering a home that wants to use her as a kids horse anytime soon.
If you read this and thought - she sounds like a horse I've been waiting for - reach out. Otherwise, share it for us. We could use all the help in finding her perfect fit.
