Did you know that early socialization is also important for kittens? Today, the staff at PetSmart Veterinary Round Rock was kind enough to let us use their space for a happy visit! Frasier and Niles explored the exam room, met some new human friends who gave them yummy treats, played, and practiced getting onto the scale to check their weights! Happy visits can go a long way toward helping these two feel comfortable visiting their veterinary staff friends for the rest of their lives!

These sweet babies turned up in our garage about a week ago. They've been to the vet for their first check up and vaccination, and they've been everywhere with me this week. They're becoming very social and friendly little guys. Message me if your life has a kitten shaped hole or two in it! I've been calling them Frasier and Niles, and they're 6 or 7 weeks old!

Another Scentwork weekend in the books! Kion completed his Advanced containers title this weekend, including a first place Advanced Containers search. This weekend was our first time competing at the Excellent level, and he also came away with one third place Excellent Exteriors search. We've got one pesky interior search to go to complete his overall Advanced title.

SO proud of Kion yesterday! We qualified in 3 out of 4 searches yesterday, including a second place buried search and this 3rd place container search! I take full responsibility for getting a "no" in our interior search. Kion did his job, and his human partner made mistakes. We also completed our Advanced Buried and Advanced Exteriors titles!

Last year at this trial, Kion was so distracted by the smelly carpet in this room, and I could not be more proud of his improvement! I am so thankful for my coach, Naomi Boyer, who always shows up to video and cheer us on, and to Scent Work Austin Texas Club for putting on a fun and well run trial!

This big red dog had a great scentwork weekend! He qualified in 7 of 8 searches over the weekend, including a third place advanced interior search and a fourth place advanced exterior search. Patrón has been working on his recall during his Board and Train stay! When working on recalls, I almost always call the dog, pay him well for getting to me, and then send him back to whatever he was doing before I called him. I don't want my dog to think that coming to me will end his free time or fun. It's more like a short interruption for a yummy snack, and then he gets to go back to his choice of activity. Here, Patrón was choosing to chew on a stick he rescued from the burn pile, a high value activity for him! I call him, pay him well for responding by coming to me, and then he gets to go right back to his stick! Good job, Patrón! Patrón is available for adoption through Gold Ribbon Rescue
