Johnny had a fun beagle-time at the creek today! It's pretty hot and he took to the water like a duck. After he was done he stood perfectly for a bath and is now ready for his next adventure!

Don't let age be the reason you pass over an animal. These older babies are full of life, experience, and so much love. Tucker is honestly an amazing dog that is just happy to hang out and be included, he still has so much playful energy left. Knowing what a good friend this dog can be break our heart to see him snuggled up on a bed alone in our shelter instead of a cozy couch.

Please share or considering opening your home to an older dog.

5 dog bites in 5 days. We have dealt with 5 dog bites in 5 days. This is the time of year when we see an increase in dog bites. How can we prevent dog bites?
1) Check your fences and tie-outs to make sure that your dog is always secure on your property. Make sure doors latch properly, and that your dog can't jump through a window screen.
2) If your kids are home for the summer, have a talk with them about making sure your own dogs are not let outside without being secured. Make sure they are shutting doors while going in and out. Also talk with them about not approaching strange dogs, neighbor dogs, etc.
3) Spay and neuter your dogs. A dog's behavior can be greatly effected by those extra hormones (particularly in males). There are a couple low cost spay/neuter clinics in Canton that can help. If you need that information, reach out to us!
4) Know your dog's behavior. Respect your dog's space. If you know your dog does not like strangers, then make sure your dog is put away safely while you have visitors at your home. If you know your dog doesn't like the mail carrier/delivery person, make sure your dog is not outside when you are expecting deliveries. These are just a few examples.
5) Always advocate for your dog! Do not allow people to test your dog's good nature. Just because your dog has never bitten, does not mean that it will never happen.

This beautiful girl was just surrendered by her owners. Neela is very protective of her family, and was a little too protective of the new baby, she wasn’t happy when anyone would go to pick baby up. To stay on the safer side, we’re looking for a home with no young children for Neela.

She’s very scared, but she was friendly towards us as we took her back yo her temporary home. If you’re looking for a hundred pound dog with SO much love to give, please stop in and meet Neela. It may take her a little time to adjust, so please be patient! ❤️🐾

Just look at these 2 adorable little girls?! They are looking for their forever homes.
