The #1 mistake I see with most things regarding dogs is simply going too fast. I'm a big fan of the 3 second rule, which also works great with actually petting/touching an unfamiliar dog for the first time.

We Rate Dogs:I think Gilbert Hortman deserves some love. Speaker Melissa Hortman was a foster home trainer with Helping PAWS, Inc. , a Minnesota non-profit. She and her family helped raise and train him and they eventually adopted him.
