12/11/2024 – Message from ACO Mike White
I am asking nicely that all complaints and negative talk about the Animal Control Shelters in all areas & their staff come to a halt. The people who are complaining for the most part have never given yourself a chance to meet those dedicated people who are working 7 days a week to take care of the Shelters. Those of us that work in this field are the ones are are taking care of all the Neglected, Abandoned, Thrown Away and Owner Surrenders that are no longer wanted. We make sure they are fed and safe.
Yes, unfortunately there are times when Euthanasia is required, but that doesn’t mean that we agree with it. It’s a reality and decision that we don’t want to make, but it is a necessity at times. But if everyone would work together, things can be turned around.
What is accomplished by slamming the Shelters & the Staff that works there?.....NOTHING
What did YOU accomplish when slamming Shelters & Staff on the Phone, in Person or on Social Media?.....NOTHING
POSITIVE THINGS YOU CAN DO:
• Volunteer at your Local Shelter (if permitted)
• Call and ask what you can do to help the animals that are there.
• Call and ask what type of items could you use (Food, Treats, Cleaning Products, Blankets, etc.)
I have heard all the excuses:
• I work all the time
• I can’t have a pet
Think about this, when YOU slam your local shelters or the employees, YOU TO stop the animals from getting a home. NO ONE and I repeat NO ONE wants to go to a shelter where all they are hearing is negative talk over & over.
Oh and think about this, your Local Government watches the pages, receives calls of negative talk and they don’t want to deal with updates or associate themselves with the shelters. These officials begin to think that the Shelters are nothing but a headache.
Please take time to think before you make negative comments about everything. The negative comments sometimes hinder the process that Shelters and the Staff are trying to accomplish.
