Thank you for visiting the SPCA of Hancock County! Founded in 1911, the SPCA of Hancock County, Maine, is a life-saving organization committed to providing shelter and care for abandoned, stray and surrendered animals. Since opening the doors of our expanded facility in Trenton in October 2010, our organization has found homes for thousands of dogs and cats. We are also focused on community outrea

ch and education on proper and humane animal care. Due to the pandemic and concern for the safety of our staff and volunteers, all visits to the shelter are by appointment only. Please contact us to schedule an appointment to adopt, surrender a pet or stray animal, or with any other requests. We are accepting donations of pet food items, pet supplies, and anything you might find on our Amazon Wish List. These can be left at our front door or by the Volunteer Entrance. These entrances are regularly checked by staff for any dropped-off donations. If you're interested in volunteering with us, we would love to meet you. We have a great need for volunteers to help with general house-cleaning tasks around the shelter, help with animal care of dogs and/or cats, assist with groundskeeping and maintenance, perform public outreach at events, collecting bottles and redeemables from the vendors that donate to us, and so much more. If you would like to fundraise or donate to the SPCA, you can do so online or by contacting [email protected] to discuss ways to collaborate. Thank YOU for being the heroes to our animals. We could not do this life-saving work without the donations of time, money, and support that each of you give to us.

Get ready!!! PUPPIES. 8 weeks old now (they are 4 weeks in these pics) and available as foster-to-adopt this FrI May 15th. O-M-G. They are Staffordshire Bull Terrier/German Shepherd mix and will be between 70-90 lbs. most likely. All pets in the homes they go to must be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccines and annual care.

They will go into foster care with a foster-to-adopt home and they will have to come back for spay and neuter, and some vaccines. Then they can return (to you?) as adopted.

Oh, my, my. Adoption #2 of the day. That makes 2 Fridays where we had 2 adoptions. What's with that? 😄😄😄 Love it. Johnny Cash hightailed it outta here today with his new loving family. We'll miss his bouncy body and goofy smile. Thank you again, Mike Dow and Dom Efter and everyone rooting for our cats + dogs. ❤
