BODY CONTROL 🤠

Part 1: I work on this a lot when I’m teaching weekly lessons and it’s definitely something you can work on right at home on your own.

Watch for Part 2 and 3 over the next few days. Any thoughts or questions I can help answer?

I am beyond honored and truly humbled to be named the 2025 AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year. This recognition means more to me than words can fully express. For as long as I can remember, horses have been my passion and my purpose. They have shaped who I am — not only as a horseman, but as a person.

Over the years, I have looked up to so many incredible individuals who have received this award before me. Many of them were not only leaders in our industry, but also some of my greatest mentors and role models. Their example inspired me to keep learning, keep growing, and always strive to be better.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who took the time to nominate and vote for me. Your support, encouragement, and belief in me is something I will never take for granted.

A heartfelt congratulations as well to Al Dunning and Patty Campbell on their well-deserved honors. It is truly special to be recognized alongside such outstanding horsemen and individuals.

One of the greatest blessings of this journey has been the friendships I have built and continue to build within AQHA. The people, the horses, the lessons, and the memories are treasures I carry with me every single day.

Here’s to many more years doing what we love, surrounded by incredible horses and even more incredible people.

šŸ›‘STOPPINGšŸ›‘ Part 2

Let’s put it all together and start to work on making all the transitions and steps smooth and correct. Your suggestions and thoughts on yesterday’s Part 1 were great! What other questions or thoughts do you have today?

šŸ›‘ STOPPING šŸ›‘ Part 1

One of the #1 asked questions I get quite often is ā€œHow do you teach a horse to stop???ā€ Let’s break it down today and talk about some tips I have to start out at the beginning and what to work on.

What other questions do you have? I’d love to try and help with them also!

I remember asking Marty if he’d be up for trying something different. In typical Marty fashion he smirked and said, ā€œsureā€. It was hard to explain the final images, even harder waiting for absolute darkness in the arena…oh and, how are we supposed to see again?? Annndd, how do you focus in the dark…not just the camera šŸ˜†

These exposures consisted of 2-second shutter drags, locked off focus, constant and strobes…that’s the technical side. Work that out then work the actual timing, oh yeah…second curtain sync anyone?? There’s a ton that goes into a finished image, heck how about a finished horse…errr, maybe our images and horses are never ā€œfinishedā€, rather constant building on the last thing while learning new things. Sure am thankful for friends and horses that are always up for new adventures.
