This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation week. As I sit here writing this, I find myself becoming emotional about this staff and these animals we work so hard for.
No amount of free sweatshirts or pizza parties or potlucks will ever truly express the gratitude we have for this staff. It’s been a rough couple months over here at TCAC. So many intakes, so many animals we’ve seen failed by people and society as a whole. But with that, we’ve seen so many adoptions and so many live outcomes that make what we do worth every bit of it.
The staff is tired and weary. But they continue to show up and do everything they can to ensure the safety and health of the animals in our care. Sometimes throwing their own health and sanity to the wind.
We appreciate each and every one of our rescue partners that pull from us and help find homes for every furry friend. The help we recieve is a testament to the amount of amazing people in this community and beyond.
Thank you all for your support. Thank you to all of the animal shelter personnel. Especially ours. You are what makes a difference in each animal you encounter.

Templetini has been adopted as well!
Chin has been adopted! Templetini is still here!

All bunnies have been adopted!! Now we present to you.... Templetini and Chin.
Have you ever dreamt of a pet that you can't cuddle or touch? Probably not... but these guys never dreamt of ending up here. So we're asking for a compromise 🥹

Chin is a 14 year old senior chinchilla. She is a FIRECRACKER. She doesn't want to be picked up, pet, or really handled at all. Making her sort of a curmudgeon of a pet, but a cute one. She too just needs a soft place to land to live out the rest of her life in peace. 🐾

Templetini is a senior rat at 3-4 years old. She has become a little more adventurous since being here! She is a bit nibbly when sticking your fingers in her kennel so she might not be the best for a placement with children. She just needs a soft place to land to spend the rest of her days. 🐭 (Yes, she is Remy for Halloween)

Please make sure to do your research on both of these pets before coming to adopt! Both need specific diets and living arrangements in order to live the rest of their best lives.

Today's Halloween Party Adoption Event sponsored by ASPCA was an AMAZING success!! Today's adoptions were 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 9 bunnies! 🐶🐱🐰
There is still one bunny, lots of cats, and three amazing dogs left that are ready for their forever homes! Please come out tomorrow and help us get these guys to their happily ever after!
Ryp: Black and White Shepherd
Ryp is a shy guy who will need someone committed to helping him feel safe and comfortable. He is wary of strangers at first so he needs someone to slow down and make him feel at home.
Poe: White and Black Mix
Poe is a young guy who is also undersocialized. He's a big man but he is very hand shy. He does warm up with treats and love! He also will need someone committed to making him feel at ease during his transition into a home!
Chico: Black and White Pocket Bully
Chico is a TANK and he looks and acts like every bit of one 😆 He is a very happy tail waggy boy. He looks like he should be intimidating but he's really just a big baby. He's not super used to being with other dogs (he could work through that) but he did come from a home with kids!

ALL BUNNIES HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!
UPDATE: ONE BROWN BUN LEFT!
Hi Everyone!
For our fee waived adoption event these next two days, we have 10 baby bunnies needing homes! They are between 4-6 weeks old. We will only be adopting one bunny per family as we don't need any more baby bunnies being born! 🐰
Please remember that rabbits can be a 10 year commitment. They are not "tools to teach kids responsibility". They need love, vet care, and stimulation just like any other pet!
These guys are first come first serve so come on in and meet your new little furry bestie ❤ 🐾

Today TCAC took in 54 animals total. 45 from one home!
I really just want to take a moment to brag about this amazing staff. The compassion and empathy they show for the animals and humans alike is truly something. They are resilient, they are strong, and they never give up no matter what the odds are.
Today was a long day but just one of many more. We are painfully aware of the animal crisis that is happening in the United States. We feel it in little Tazewell County every day. Yet here we are. Together saving lives.
The animals, big and small, are fed and housed tonight. It might not be the Ritz but we do what we can with what we have. We spent over $600 on food today so if you’re able to donate, we would be so appreciative.
Thank you all for your support. ❤️

**None of these animals are available for adoption, please do not message or comment until we update that theyve become available**

Introducing Linus!! Again...
Now as a 10 month old!

This handsome pup is Linus, a sweet and spirited young guy who’s still learning all about life and love. He was recently returned through no fault of his own—just for being a puppy! That means he’s full of curiosity, playfulness, and a little bit of mischief as he figures out the big world around him.

Linus is eager to please and learns quickly with patience, consistency, and positive guidance. He’d thrive in a home that understands that great dogs aren’t born—they’re taught with love, time, and treats!

He’s already showing what a loyal, goofy, and affectionate companion he’ll grow into. All he needs is someone who believes in him and will help him become the best boy he can possibly be.

If you’re ready to laugh, train, cuddle, and enjoy all the joys of puppyhood (chew toys and all), Linus can’t wait to meet you. ❤️
*Bonus!! You'll get to see all of his puppy photos!*
