🦌 Please Leave Fawns Alone ❌
Each year well meaning people come across a sight like this and think something is wrong. This is completely normal behavior for a deer fawn, and human intervention is unnecessary.
⭐ The More You Know 🌈
⏺️ Fawns are born nearly scentless (so predators cannot find them easily). They also have spots that serve as camouflage and are able to stand soon after being born, but as a protective tactic will remain hidden.
⏺️ It is common for female deer in urban areas to place fawns around homes, backyards, or flower beds. The mother placed it there because she felt it would be safe (often intentionally near humans).
⏺️ To protect her fawn, the mother will spend very little time with it. This is to prevent attracting predators to the fawn’s location. She will leave her fawn in various hiding places for long periods of time, returning several times a day to nurse it. By staying away, the mother is protecting it.
⏺️ Fawns will begin following their mothers at four weeks old. When they are two months old, fawns are able to forage for themselves and are completely weaned from their mother.

Excuse me lady… you’re interrupting my nap time! Sorry Cal… you’re just too cute 🥹

Calvin was brought in as a little baby kitten. He struggled with coccidia FOREVER and FINALLY he was well enough to be adopted!

Unfortunately… he wasn’t very nice to the resident cat. They tried for years but the resident cat got fed up… which we get 😅

SO, now he’s ready to find his forever home. Preferably one with no kitty friends. If you’re interested in a cat who wants your undivided attention and will give you his in return, Calvin is your guy 🩷 He LOVES catnip toys and lounging around.

Ryder went with us to the Five Points Washington Fridays event and WOW did he have a blast 🥳

Ryder has been with us since just after Christmas and he is READY to find his forever home! He loves people of all sizes, treats, toys, and dogs. (He would probably be terrified cats, which works out well for the cat!)

The community of Washington really showed up for us! The donations packed the truck and we're so thankful! We've had a few donation drives in the past couple of months from Pekin Insurance, Five Points, and the Tremont Community Kids Club ❤ If you ever want to put together even a small donation drive at work or with a community club, give us a call. We'd love to work together!

Memorial Day is a day to remember the fallen and thank them for their sacrifice. Today, we remember the brave men, women, and K9s that served for our freedom ❤️🤍💙 🐾

Magpie is still available for adoption 🐰🩷

She was found stray so we don't know too much about her past. She is a satin bunny (who could use a diet) 😅 We think she's between 3-4 years old potentially. She is likely NOT spayed. She loves treats and pets, but she's not a huge fan of being held!
