What does it mean to be Your Other Family Doctor?
I got caught up in a moment this week that answers this perfectly.
It means we get to be a part of family farms. There is something special to be blessed to see 3 generations work together to get a job done. We get to witness one generation teach another in their own way that demonstrates trust, high expectations, necessity and love.
Maybe it’s because I’ve stood in these shoes but this girl got me this week.
I got to see a strong confident girl handle the pressure of a big job. Adjusting the head catch for calves vs cow size, writing down the pregnancy report, and all the while carrying on conversation with me making work feel nothing like work at all. Despite a brother pestering her and a grandpa expecting the best on the head-gate she handled it all without hesitation. No cow or human rattled her and she was not intimidated by her small size.
I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my week. Beautiful morning, calm cows, strong family and a great reminder of the joy in these moments.
