🐾🩺 What IS a Wellness Exam?

A wellness exam is much more than just getting vaccines! It’s a full physical evaluation of your pet from head to toes. Your veterinarian will check their eyes, ears, mouth, skin, abdomen, joints, weight, and overall condition—and listen to their heart and lungs. ❤️

Wellness visits are also a great opportunity to:
💉 Update recommended vaccines
🩸 Discuss or perform lab work
💊 Review and refill medications
⚖️ Check weight and body condition
🐶🐱 Talk about nutrition, behavior, dental health, parasite prevention, and any changes you've noticed at home

📅 We recommend wellness exams at least once a year. For our pets, one year is a significant amount of time! An annual visit for them is like only seeing your own doctor every few years. Regular exams allow us to monitor changes and catch potential problems earlier.

As pets get older, we may recommend wellness exams every 6 months so we can monitor age-related changes more closely.

Why do we need to see your pet regularly?
In order for our veterinarians to provide medical advice or prescribe/refill medications, your pet must have a current Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). At our hospital, this requires a wellness exam within the past year.

Even if your pet seems perfectly healthy, regular exams help us catch subtle changes early and keep your pet on track for a long, healthy life! 🐾💙
