💔🐾 Calling on Our Community — This Is Our Last Push 🐾💔
I never thought I’d have to write a post like this… but here we are.
Reborn Animal Rescue has reached a crossroads. Our personal home (less than 700sq ft) is simply too small to continue operating safely and responsibly, and because of that, our rescue work has been on hold. Without a physical location, we cannot move forward — and without help, this may be the final chapter for the rescue.
We are asking if there is anyone willing to help us fundraise to purchase a property like this:
This property would allow us to:
🐾 Establish Reborn Animal Rescue’s first physical location
🧠 Create Pawsitive Haven - a Mental Health & Domestic Violence resource where people can seek treatment without permanently surrendering their pets
🏡 Provide safe, temporary care for animals while their humans get the help they desperately need
We didn’t come to this lightly. We worked with Shelter Planners of America to complete a Needs Assessment Study and gather real, professional cost estimates to build a new facility from the ground up.
The reality is sobering:
➡️ Building a brand new 5,000 sq ft facility would cost between $1.5 million and $2.4 million - and that does not include the cost of land (they recommend 2 - 3 acres for future expansion).
Because of these barriers, people are staying in unsafe situations - delaying mental health treatment and remaining in dangerous domestic violence environments - simply because they have nowhere safe (or very limited options) for their animals to go. We see it firsthand, and it’s heartbreaking.
This property represents a realistic, immediate path forward - and this is truly our last push before having to make the devastating decision to close the rescue entirely. Since our inception in April 2020, I (Melissa, Founder) have personally put in thousands and thousands of dollars to start/keep this dream going and can't afford to keep doing that - we were only receiving a few hundred dollars of donations a year. I also have an older dog who is extremely animal/people selective and it's not safe or fair to her to keep bringing new animals into my very small home where I can't isolate new animals.
We are not asking anyone to do this alone. We are asking if anyone feels called to help make this a reality for our local communities and to help fundraise, connect us to donors or grants, organize low cost but high yielding events (we only have $2,800 in our account right now), or someone who can fully lead this effort alongside us. The majority of our volunteer applications have been from individuals wanting to work directly with animals and unfortunately we are not at a spot to house animals to assist with.
If you can help in any way — or even by sharing this post — please comment below or message me directly. Every share matters more than you know. Let's come together to show our local communities we care are about those who are struggling and are here to help them every step of the way.
Thank you for believing in this mission, for standing with us through the hard seasons, and for caring about lives — both human and animal — that deserve safety and hope. 💔🐾
