It's almost spring and grasses are going off here on the west coast...with all the rain I'm sure it's going to be another bad foxtail year. If you're not familiar (lucky you), foxtails are the name given to a class of exotic grasses that produce a cluster of spiky seeds. The seeds drop off and scatter along the ground throughout the late spring, summer, and fall. Foxtail seeds are a HUGE hazard to dogs as the seeds can burrow into their skin, eyes, ears, nose, mouth and cause infection and internal injuries. It's critical that if foxtails grow anywhere you walk with your pup, that you're careful and vigilant in order to prevent foxtail injury.
