This giant schnauzer puppy stopped by Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency and quickly became everyone’s favorite coworker for the day. Equal parts playful and lovable, with a whole lot of growing still to do.

Bear the Golden Retriever stopped by Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency for a visit and of course he brought his best pal along… Ducky! 🦆🐾

Some patients bring moral support and Bear clearly came prepared. Safe to say Ducky stayed close the whole time while Bear soaked up all the love from our team. 💛

“Hi, I'm Dr. Rebecca Walton and I’m from Southern California but spent much of my training across the country. I completed veterinary school in Southern California, followed by a rotating internship at the University of Minnesota and an Emergency and Critical Care residency at North Carolina State University. After residency, I served on faculty at Iowa State University for seven years before returning home to Southern California.

Being a criticalist allows me to care for the sickest ER and hospitalized patients while collaborating closely with multiple specialties to provide multimodal care. I especially enjoy respiratory and toxicology emergencies, as well as extracorporeal therapy. I thrive in the fast paced emergency setting and value building relationships with families during critical moments.”

“Hi, I’m Dr. Kristen Kelly and I specialize in internal medicine at Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency. I help pets with complex health issues involving the gastrointestinal, kidney, liver, endocrine, and immune systems. I use diagnostic ultrasound and endoscopy to provide minimally invasive diagnostics, and also perform bone marrow sampling, joint taps, fine needle aspirates, and airway sampling.

I love partnering with pet owners to navigate complicated medical cases and ensure every pet receives compassionate, expert care.”

Our very own Dr. Roca was asked to speak to the Surgery Club at Western University of Health Sciences! 🩺✨

With approximately 150 students and faculty in attendance, the lecture focused on Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass (SUB), a topic chosen by the students while they are in their renal block curriculum.

Dr. Roca reviewed:
• Clinical presentation
• Kidney physiology
• Relevant anatomy
• Diagnostics
• Pre operative stabilization
• Surgical technique
• Post operative care
• Prognosis

Dr. Rebecca Walton, DVM, DACVECC, is a board-certified Emergency & Critical Care specialist who cares for pets during their most urgent and critical moments. She has extensive experience stabilizing life-threatening conditions, managing ICU patients, and providing advanced, around-the-clock critical care.

Dr. Walton’s calm, compassionate approach and expertise help ensure pets receive the highest level of care when they need it most. We’re excited to have her caring for our patients and supporting the families who trust us with their pets.
