Some veterinary skills aren't taught in textbooks...

A good burrito wrap might just be one of them. 🌯🐾

Wrapping an anxious or fearful patient snugly in a towel can help them feel more secure while allowing us to safely perform an exam or treatment. It's a simple technique that can reduce stress for both pets and the people caring for them.

(And yes...there are definitely team members who have perfected the art.)

A good Samaritan brought in a domestic shorthair black and white neutered male cat this afternoon. There was no microchip scanned, though his left ear was tipped. Unfortunately his injuries were severe upon arrival and he was humanely euthanized. He was found near Garnett, KS. A good Samaritan brought in a domestic longhair seal point with white intact male cat Wednesday night. There was no microchip scanned and they were found near the intersection of 6th and Fillmore. Our goal isn't to make every pet love us.
Our goal is to help every pet feel safe enough that we can provide the care they need with as little fear and stress as possible.

Sometimes that means moving slowly.
Sometimes it means treats.
Sometimes it means a cozy towel burrito.
And sometimes... it means accepting that we're temporarily the villain in their story.

Every patient deserves patience, compassion, and respect - even the tiny dragons. 🐉💜

In an emergency, every second counts—and that includes keeping your pets safe.

Take a few simple steps now to help protect them:
🏠 Place a pet alert sticker on a window or door so first responders know animals are inside.
🎒 Keep a pet emergency kit with food, water, medications, and medical records near the exit.
🐶 Include your pets in your family's emergency plan and practice drills.

A little preparation today can make a big difference tomorrow. After all, protecting your pet is part of protecting your family. ❤️🐾

Whether you're planning a road trip, a weekend getaway, or a visit with family, a little preparation can make the trip safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

🐶 Pack your pet's favorite blanket, toys, and food to help them feel at home.
💧 Bring plenty of fresh water and a travel bowl.
🚗 Plan for regular potty breaks and exercise along the way.
🩺 Before you head out, check in with your veterinarian to make sure your pet is healthy, up to date on preventatives, and ready for travel.
