If your dogs hate fireworks, tomorrow will be stressful for them. I have a few tips for you that may help ease the stress for both you and them.
🧨Please make sure they're wearing their collar and tags. Some dogs attempt to escape when they're scared. Even if your dog doesnt usually try to bolt out the front door when it opens, they may try during fireworks.
🎆 Throw a few tennis balls, knotted towels, or even shoes in your dryer. Turn it on the air cycle (no heat) and let it run. This can help provide white noise that can help drown out the sound of fireworks.
🧨Consider purchasing a doggie pheromone diffuser. They're like glad plug ins, but instead of making your home smell nice these devices help your dogs relax. Therapet and Thunderease are two common brands. You can usually find Thunderease at pet supply stores.
🎆 Take your dog out for some exercise BEFORE the sun goes down. Try to wear them out a bit, if you can. A tired dog is a calmer dog.
🧨Leash your pup when you go outside, even in your own fenced yard. A fearful dog may try to escape, as I mentioned above.
🎆 Provide your pet a safe, comfortable space. A crate covered with a blanket works well, but setting them up in the laundry room can be equally helpful if a crate isnt an option.
🧨 Do your best to stay calm. Your pets feed off of your emotions, both good and bad.
