Why do Morgans park out?
I get this question all the time. Having a Morgan stretch their legs out helps show the confirmation to the best advantage. By having them set their hind legs back, it helps flatten their croup. Stretching the legs forward can give more slope to the shoulder. One must be careful because to much angle might not flatter the horse.
The other reason is that by parking the horse out you help the horse stand still. It's hard for a horse to take off or move around in a parked position. This is especially important for driving horses or english horses. By parking the horse, you help ground them to stay still.
Moriah Smoke N Mirrors is practicing his parked stance for both showing in hand & his driving practice. Great exercise for wiggly young colts!

If any of our riders at MTC wants to enroll in the AMHA Open Competition Program or the Morgan & Me program, let us know.
The OCP rewards riders for showing & the M&M program rewards riders that spend hours with morgan horses. YOU DO NOT NEED TO OWN A MORGAN for these programs. Any showing or hours spent with a morgan count as long as you're signed up!
