😣 TICKS!! 😣
Here in the Catskills of eastern NY the ticks are B-A-D right now!!

They love cool-to-warm, humid weather and that's what we've got, for weeks and weeks.

There are different kinds of ticks, and many different diseases that can be transmitted by a tick bite. Lyme Disease is the most famous, but believe it or not, it's maybe not the worst of them.

Understand that testing the tick for a disease is not always recommended. It's possible the tick didn't transmit the pathogen to you or your pet; it's also possible the test missed a pathogen that WAS transmitted.

As always, the best way to prevent tick borne diseases is to not get bitten in the first place! Easier said than done, I know.

When you remove a tick, DO NOT SQUEEZE IT!! You can release pathogens that way. Discard the tick, put in a baggie or stick it to tape -- I struggle to feel compassion for ticks, because I am just not that evolved yet.

He was found abandoned tied to a playground in the City of Niagara Falls. Animal Control Officer Donny Booth literally saved his life, then brought him to The Pit Chic - All Breed Dog Training & Municipal Shelter , he was minutes away from heat stroke. Soon after a veterinary visit, he began his recovery.

His amazing foster Aubreigh fell in love with him and adopted him!

Help us & Queen City Pitties Animal Rescue find our Rosie a foster home 🌹

Could you be the foster Rosie (and other pups) need?! Foster homes without cats, other pets and/or kids are critically needed to give pups a chance.
QCP and The Pit Chic pulled Rosie from the shelter hours before she was scheduled to be PTS. The foster that stepped up for Rosie saved her life. But now we know Rosie should not live with cats. Please consider fostering Rosie.
