Jersey Devil Dobermans is looking for the perfect guardian home for Hiro, our handsome 1-year-old imported male from Serbia.

A guardian home allows Hiro to live as your family companion while remaining part of our carefully planned breeding program. This is a great opportunity for an approved family to own an exceptional European Doberman while helping preserve outstanding bloodlines.

How our Guardian Program works:
• 🏡 Hiro lives with you as your personal family dog.
• 🩺 We cover all veterinary expenses related to our breeding program, including required health testing and breeding-related care.
• 📅 We will schedule regular visits to monitor his health, condition, and training.
• 🧬 When needed for approved breedings, Hiro will return to us for a short period before coming back home to you.
• ❤️ Your responsibility is to provide him with a loving home, proper nutrition, exercise, training, and routine veterinary care unrelated to the breeding program.

⚠️ Doberman Owners: Think Twice Before Feeding Grain-Free Diets

One of the most common questions we get is whether Dobermans should eat grain-free food. Our answer is no.

Current research has raised concerns about a possible link between certain grain-free diets and diet-associated dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Many of these diets replace grains with high amounts of legumes such as peas, lentils, chickpeas, and beans. While the exact cause is still being studied, these ingredients have been associated with an increased risk of heart disease in some dogs.

Dobermans are already a breed with a higher genetic risk for DCM, so it’s especially important to be cautious about diet.

✅ We recommend feeding a balanced, high-quality diet that includes healthy grains unless your veterinarian has diagnosed a specific medical condition that requires otherwise.

Every dog is different, so always discuss your dog’s nutritional needs with your veterinarian or a board-certified veterinary nutritionist.

Dobermans have long earned a reputation for courage, intelligence, and unwavering loyalty. Whether they’re protecting their families, serving alongside law enforcement and the military, competing in sports, or simply being the best companions anyone could ask for, they remind us every day what loyalty truly looks like.

As you celebrate with family and friends, don’t forget to celebrate safely with your four-legged companions too. Fireworks can be stressful for many dogs, so make sure your Doberman is safely indoors, wearing updated ID tags, and has a quiet place to relax.

Unfortunately, puppy scams are becoming more common every day. Scammers know how excited families are to bring home a new puppy, and they take advantage of that excitement with fake websites, stolen photos, made-up litters, and even non-refundable “application fees.”

At Jersey Devil Dobermans, we believe education is just as important as breeding quality dogs.

⚠️ Red Flags to Watch For:
❌ Application fees just to be considered for a puppy
❌ No phone calls, FaceTime, or video chats
❌ Refusal to let you meet the breeder or see the parents
❌ Pressure to send money immediately
❌ Prices that seem too good to be true
❌ No health testing, paperwork, or proof of ownership

A reputable breeder should be transparent, answer your questions, provide health testing, and be willing to build a relationship with you before you ever bring a puppy home.
