August 15th marked 10 years of being open 🍾 We have smiled and laughed through the fun times and cried and felt the sorrow with so many of our clients. I can’t thank all of you enough for the support you have shown over the years 💕 We truly appreciate every single one of you!
A little about Scally-Wag and myself. When I was trying to come up with a name I knew that I wanted the name to have meaning to me and not just be a name. 2 years prior to opening my grandfather (Dave Wagner) had passed away. He and my grandma were avid boaters and active members of Bay View Yacht Club, as well as living here in Point Place. After he passed I decided to name the shop after their boat the Scally-Wag. It’s not just a name, it my life, my family and my dream. I grew up with my grandparents and dad owning and operating a tool and die business (The Mold Shop), which my dad still has. Integrity, honesty and respect has been instilled in my upbringing and has since been how we have always tried to operate. Business ownership was always my dream job but never knew exactly what it was I wanted to do. I grew up riding and training horses. After high school I started teaching others to ride, managing a small barn, doing kids summer camps and offering natural horsemanship training. I have always had a love for animals of all kinds but knew doing something equine related was not what I wanted for a career. That’s when I decided to go back to school and went for dog grooming. While in my internship I questioned my life choices and thought I made a mistake with what I wanted to do (I got bit almost weekly for the first year of learning as I was given very difficult dogs many times). I stuck with it and really grew to love what I did and more so loved creating a safe environment for my clients. I knew I couldn’t fully create the true environment I wanted without opening my own shop. So here we are 10 years later and the just a dream to start. It truly is so such a blessing to have been able to have a job that I love 🥰 Thank you so much for allowing us to be apart of yours and your furry family
