If we had to choose one word to describe the SRCHA Wild Rag, it would definitely be growth.

Growth from where we ended at the last show…
to where we were at this one…
and the growth we’ll carry into the next. 🔥🐎

🏆 Derby –

Casey Hidalgo

• Metallic Talks “Talker” marked the high score in the fence work with an impressive 220.5.

• Merada Likes Cash “Merada” is finally coming out of her teenage years and marked her personal best fence score with a 217.

• Hotchi Red Cat “Hotchi” — this was only Hotchi’s second show with us. Although they didn’t place, we’ve seen tremendous progress and are excited about where he’s headed.

• Walkin In A Haze “Woody” had a solid herd work, marking a 213.

🏆 Chase Reed

• Lil Texas Royalty “Lilly” and Chase are really starting to figure each other out, and their growth from the last show truly showed in this week.

• Next Gen Shine “Next Gen” — this was Chase’s first time showing Next Gen, and we felt they had a really great show together.

Open Bridle –

Show 1:
🥇 1st in the L1 Open
🥈 2nd in the Limited Open
🏅 9th in the Open

Show 2 brought a little tough luck, finishing 9th in the L1 Open Bridle.

Sherman has always been a special horse to us, and he’s definitely proving himself. ❤️

🏆• Michelle Stegenga and Reyzin To The Blue “Blue” marked their highest boxing score yet.

🏆• Charles “Ed” Fessler and Dealz A Deal “Dealer” continue growing together each and every show. We can’t wait to see where they’ll be by the end of the year.

🏆• Salina Danley and Marshall had a great first show back. Selina is training Marshall while riding with HPH.

This turned into a long show update, but we wanted to make sure everyone got included. We know some of y’all follow specific horses and riders along the journey. ❤️

We had a great time at the STRCHA Spring Showdown, and we are beyond proud of our team!

Casey Hidalgo:

* Metallic Talks, “Talker” – 2nd in the L1 Derby
* Hotchi Red Cat, “Hotchi” – 4th in the L1 Derby
* Merada Likes Cash, “Merada” – 8th in the L1 Derby. She had a rough go in the cutting. She’s still figuring out that teenage girl life, but she’s so close!! When she breaks through, she will be one bad cat!
* Sequoia’s Merada, “Sherman” – 2nd in the Limited Bridle and 6th in the Open Bridle

Chase Reed showed Lilly, “Lil Texas Royalty,” and did fantastic. He’s come a long way with her in a very short time.

Our non-pros showed up.

Charles Edward “Ed” is gaining ground on Dealer, “Dealz A Deal,” each and every show.

Michelle Stegenga laid down a few solid runs on Blue, “Reyzin To The Blue,” after being down some seat time due to her work schedule (dang jobs).

We couldn’t be more excited to kick off Day 2 at the STRCHA Spring Spectacular!

🏆🎉 Just a few highlights from yesterday:
Tied for 1st in the Level 1 Open Derby Herd Work on Metallic Talks owned by “Ed” Charles Edward and 2nd on Hotchi Red Cat owned by Salina Plumb Danley.

Chase did an outstanding job getting his feet wet on Lil Texas Royalty, owned by “Ed” Charles Fessler. It’s going to be exciting watching this duo move forward.

Good luck to everyone today and thank you to South Texas Reined Cow Horse Association for putting on such a great event.

Please help us welcome Chase Wilson Reed, wife Ashlee, and their 3 awesome kiddos to the HPH team.

Chase grew up in Arizona, riding horses, roping, and rodeoing, mostly as a bull rider. He went to college in Lamar, CO, earning his AAS in Horse Training and Management.

After college, he moved to Northeast Colorado, continuing to train horses while also working other jobs. In 2021, he officially started Reed Performance Horses and began his cowhorse career.

We are so excited to be adding Chase to the team at Hidalgo Performance Horses! He has already fallen right into his new role. Ashley Reed Chase Reed Casey Hidalgo.
