As a professional groomer, I want to address a common concern regarding dogs developing impacted a**l glands or a Urinary Tract Infection after grooming.
A**l glands can sometimes become full or impacted due to a dog’s natural anatomy, diet, or stool consistency. While groomers may perform an external expression during the grooming process, this method does not fully empty the glands the way a veterinarian can. Because of this, some dogs may still experience gland issues shortly after a groom, but this is typically due to an underlying condition rather than the grooming itself.
Similarly, UTIs are caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract and are not a direct result of grooming. In many cases, symptoms may appear around the same time as a grooming appointment, but this is usually coincidental rather than caused by the service.
As always, your pet’s health and safety are a top priority. If your dog is experiencing discomfort such as scooting, excessive licking, or changes in urination, we recommend consulting your veterinarian for proper evaluation and care.
Thank you for trusting us with your pets 🐾
