Tiny Tigers Rescue

Tiny Tigers Rescue Tiny Tigers Rescue, Inc (TTR) is committed to helping save the lives of local abandoned, neglected, and abused cats.

Donations may be mailed to PO Box 207, Toast NC 27049. Tiny Tigers Rescue, Inc. - a 501 c 3 non-profit group - is committed to helping save the lives of local abandoned, neglected, and abused cats. Tiny Tigers Rescue also works to subsidize the cost of spaying and neutering cats in economically disadvantaged households. The ultimate goal is to reduce the number of cats entering the Surry County An

imal Shelter and reduce the number of cats killed there. We incorporate a fostering network into our mission to keep cats safe while they await their transport to their Fur-ever home or permanent rescue placement and later, adoption. Fostering further reduces the number of cats killed at the Surry County Animal Shelter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3MIR68Z9N0K6V

An important request…

Please, Stop Trapping Without A Plan 🛑

Receive requests for ferals/strays in traps, for great lengths of time, asking for help… “this cats been around my area for a long time, so I trapped it yesterday, not sure what to do with it, no rescues are getting back to me.”

The pics/videos heartbreaking on these requests, with cats crying, panicking, thrashing, etc., in exposed, bare traps 💔 … No trap runner, no trap cover, no appropriate food/water. Or just with a dumb can of tuna inside trap with cat 😔

Even TnR organizations (reputable and good ones), who are releasing the kitty after and not rehabilitating, use these techniques and if for some reason a drop trap or kitty won’t go in covered, they are there on site to cover after….. because they think of the poor kitty in trap; how to make them comfortable during an already stressful time, bringing a sense of security to the kitty, and lessoning the trauma of the overall experience.

Ferals, in bare bones trap, exposed to the world, and leaving them in it with no plan is creating great trauma….

You need a plan, before you lay that trap. Whether that is transporting out to a vet because the TNR plan is already in place, transporting them to a rescue because that arrangement is already in place and they are expecting kitty, or whether transferring to an already prepared large crate environment or small room to begin decompressing and vetting process, yourself. Etc.

This is one of the reasons why I don’t lend out traps and am there physically doing the trapping, or if in the rare cases where I’m having home owner run trap, I am there with them first to show steps of preparing, explaining runner, cover, setting it, going over what happens once cat is trapped…. because there is sadly a lack of knowledge and I’m always worried for the kitties, due to it 😔

I know everyone is just trying to help but please don’t trap without a plan, please educate yourself prior on how 🙏 It is organizations like us, who fully rehabilitate ferals, who see the impacts and trauma of this and have to work through it after, when these things don’t happen…. They carry enough trauma, they don’t need more 😔

May we always be continually improving, with the best interests of the kitties, in mind 💞
