We are feeling so blessed today.
We have been anxiously awaiting the first round of results from the pups who are being tested as a match for Eliot and were feeling a bit down after hearing from the lab that they hadn’t had luck so far (they haven’t given us details yet but suggested we should definitely keep looking). Today we came home to FOUR new voicemails from owners of dogs related to Eliot who saw our post online or the fliers we have posted in vet offices and volunteered to do the simple blood test required to see if they are a match.
We are so grateful to everyone who has shared our post and eternally grateful to those who have brought their dogs in to be tested. These are acts of true selfless kindness and it’s heartwarming to have people make such an effort to help us save Eliot’s life. Eliot is the heart of our family. She is so special and it feels like her spirit has been spread to all of those who have come forward. We can’t thank everyone enough. Please, please continue sharing the original post and contact us with any leads. This is a numbers game. More relatives tested= more likelihood of a match for Eliot! Any goldens from Sousa’s Goldens in Tiverton RI and/or Tangleloft in Sturbridge MA are a possible match! We will keep trying until we have found a match for Eliot!

Update: Eliot has been braving chemo for the past few weeks and is responding well so far. Chemo gives Eliot a chance of temporary remission but not a cure.

THE ASK: Please share and spread the word- we are seeking relatives of “Tangleloft Party like a Rockstar”. Eliot is from a litter bred with Sousa’s Rosie in Tiverton RI. Relatives have a chance of being a bone marrow match and can be tested by getting a simple blood test at their local vet - we pay and arrange for the test to be shipped to a lab.

Details: Our only chance of a cure is finding Eliot a bone marrow match. We are dedicated to having as many relatives of Eliot’s rested as possible to find a match. Full siblings have the best chance. Thank you with all of our heart to those who have come forward to be tested so far. We have not had a full sibling come forward yet but we have had the angelic owners of some other relatives (partial siblings, aunts/uncles..) take their dogs to be tested. Results take several weeks so we are waiting anxiously for those as we continue to search for closer relatives.

Thank you to all who have offered advice on finding relatives but those haven’t been fruitful so far. The breeder says he can’t locate records from the litter and ASPCA and other online registries haven’t yielded results. So far social media has been the only thing that has worked in getting word passed to sibling parents. We are open to all assistance in this effort!!!

HELP NEEDED.

Eliot has started chemotherapy for lymphoma. This does not lead to a cure, only a 6-12 month remission at best. The only real chance of a cure is undergoing a bone marrow transplant from a 100% matching donor. Eliot’s breeder still has her mother, and the vets have said that our best shot at finding a match is having as many of her full siblings tested as possible, as each has a 25% chance of being a full match. Without a match the chances of this procedure working are around 18%. With a match they shoot up to 50-60%. The donor procedure is extremely low impact, non-invasive, and we would cover all costs. The initial ask is just a blood test to check for a match.

THE ASK:
We want to locate as many of Eliot’s littermates as possible and have them tested to see if they are a match. Eliot comes from Chris Sousa’s Sousa’s Goldens in Tiverton RI. Her litter was born May 19, 2015. Her mother was a light colored golden named Rosie and her father was Tangloft Party Like a Rockstar. Dogs from this litter were likely picked up in late June or July 2015.
