Today Zion began his next chapter in the heart of Miami, Florida. He has settled in beautifully and is already showing his confident, curious personality.
It has been a true pleasure raising and caring for him over these past four months, and watching him grow has meant more to us than words can express.
He joins a loving home with both a cat and dog sibling, and his new person and family are truly some of the sweetest souls. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect forever home for him. ❤️

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a post just for her, and with Zion preparing to leave for his forever home, it feels like the perfect moment.
Zahrah was my first and only queen and the proud mother of my first kitten, Zion. As a first-time mother, she stepped into the role with such grace, patience, and devotion. Watching her learn and nurture taught me just as much as I learned alongside her …we truly grew together.
Zahrah is now a retired queen, a decision made thoughtfully and with her health and well-being always coming first. She has given me a beautiful foundation, and for that, she will forever hold a special place in my heart and in the story of Lunara.
Now she enjoys a life of comfort, love, and peace… exactly as she deserves.

✨🌙GENETIC REVEAL: The Truth Behind Zeus & Zion’s Snow-White Coats

Most people perceive Zeus & Zion as simply two pure-white Maine C***s, but their DNA reveals a much more fascinating story.

Both boys carry the Dominant White (W) gene — a gene that masks their true color, making their coats appear completely white. However, underneath that snowy exterior, their real colors are fully intact.

Here’s what their genetics actually reveal:

ZEUS – Genetically Solid Black
Although Zeus appears bright white, his DNA confirmed he is a true Solid Black Maine C**n underneath (non-tabby, non-dilute). He only looks white because the W gene blocks all pigment from reaching the hair shaft.

Genetically: Solid Black
Phenotype: White because of Dominant White
DNA-confirmed (Wisdom Panel)
Can still pass black, blue, smoke, silver, and tabby genetics to kittens

ZION – Genetically Red Classic Tabby
Zion inherited the Dominant White gene from Zeus, but his true color comes from his mother, Zahrah. Since red is passed through the mother to sons, Zion is genetically a Red Classic Tabby — even though his coat is snow-white.

Genetically: Red Classic Tabby
Phenotype: White due to the W gene
His fiery red tabby pattern is hidden under the white coat

How the Dominant White Gene Works (Simple Version)
The W gene doesn’t remove color — it covers it. Think of it like a white “curtain” blocking the pigment from reaching the surface of the coat.

Their REAL colors still exist
They still pass those colors to their kittens
Their white color is only a mask
Eye color can be copper, gold, blue, green, or odd-eyed

This is completely different from albino or colorless cats. Zeus and Zion have full pigment — it’s just hidden.

Why This Is So Special
Because their true colors stay intact underneath the white:
They can create colorful, diverse litters
They carry strong pigment genetics despite their white appearance
They bring rare and valuable genetic variety into our program
Their offspring will never be restricted to “just white”

Their coats may look like pure snow…but their DNA carries an entire rainbow of Maine C**n coloration.

I am so excited to finally introduce the newest addition to our cattery…this stunning black tortie girl who will be joining our breeding program when she’s of age. She’s currently five months old and her story is already as special as she is.
This little beauty traveled all the way from Ukraine, Europe, and despite her long journey, she arrived with the sweetest, calmest spirit. The moment she settled in, she stretched out gracefully as if she’d been here her whole life. Her presence is gentle but confident, the perfect blend for a future queen.
Her coat is a masterpiece all on its own: rich black tones blended with vibrant amber, gold, and copper highlights that shift beautifully in the light. Every tortie is one-of-a-kind, but hers feels especially magical. Her bright golden eyes and tall, expressive ears give her a captivating look that you simply cannot overlook. She has a stunning split-colored tortie face, with one side a deep, inky black and the other a warm golden-amber. The two colors meet perfectly down the center, giving her a rare, striking, and unforgettable look.
Even at just five months old, she already carries herself with elegance and personality. She’s playful, curious, affectionate, and incredibly intelligent…all traits I value and look for when building strong, healthy, well-tempered breeding lines.

🌙 Fun Tortie Facts:
• Torties are famous for their “tortitude,” a lively, confident personality full of sass and charm.
• No two torties are ever alike… their coat patterns are completely unique, like a feline fingerprint.
• They are almost always female, making each one extra special in breeding programs.
• Torties are often said to bring good luck in many cultures, especially in Europe and Asia.

I feel beyond blessed to welcome this girl into our home and program. She is already loved, cherished, and settling in beautifully. I cannot wait to watch her grow, mature, and eventually become a mother to future generations of stunning kittens.

One of the most loved and fascinating cat breeds in the world — here are some things many people never knew!

🧬 1. Maine C***s are one of the largest domestic cat breeds.

Males can reach 15–25 lbs naturally, with slow, steady growth that continues until 3–5 years old.

👂 2. Their iconic lynx tips help protect their ears.

The tufting helps keep warmth in and debris out — perfect for the breed’s cold-climate origins.

🐾 3. Their paws are built like snowshoes.

Big, wide, sometimes extra-toed (polydactyl). This allowed them to walk on snow without sinking.

💬 4. Maine C***s “chirp” more than they meow.

They have a soft, bird-like trill that they use to communicate affection and curiosity.

🌧️ 5. They are water-friendly cats.

Their water-resistant fur and natural curiosity mean many love dipping paws in water or watching sinks run.

Our beloved Zion has officially been reserved and has found his loving forever home! 🏡💙

From his very first days earthside to watching him grow into the majestic young Maine C**n he is today — Zion has brought endless joy, laughter, and love to our hearts. His playful energy and gentle soul have made him truly unforgettable here at Lunara Maine C***s.
