We have an investigation at Animal Control that revealed a household that possesses about 22 dogs and cats. Most of us would consider that excessive, but that's not unheard of in Rabun County. Most of the places we visit as Animal Control are from lower income families where it's common to find people who live without the likes of television, or internet, or even vehicles or running water. Oftentimes for these people, the only things they have are their families and their pets. We would like to go ahead and say that we believe the people in this particular case genuinely care about their animals. We want to be able to help these people and educate them on how to be more responsible pet owners. Today we would like to ask for the community’s help with this case. We need $4000 to cover Spay/Neuter and vetting. We also plan on tackling fleas by washing the animals and providing flea prevention on site in “The Christina Freeman Project Wellness Waggin” Van.
Please donate to help us help our community!
Thank you,

Dog that is hanging out on Overflow Creek Road at the end of Warwoman road near Highway 28 for the last 2 days. Is anyone missing their baby? She looks very clean and well fed, but has no collar. She’s scared so she won’t let me get close. Does anybody recognize this dog or know the owners?

This is John (Black German Shepherd) and Trudy (Brown Mixed Breed). We believe John is 6, and Trudy is 10+.

Mr Patrick McGary has been caring for the dogs since Mike Stalkup passed away three years ago. Mrs. Stalkup was unable to care for them on her own, and Mr. McGary was happy to help. Mrs. Stalkup passed away last November. Since then, Mr. McGary has taken care of the dogs at the abandoned Stalkup residence.

Mr. McGary has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. While he enjoys caring for the dogs, he is concerned that once he starts treatment he will no longer have the ability to give them the care they deserve. He has asked RCAC and PAWS for help finding new homes for the dogs.

John is an all black German Shepherd with a friendly and gentle disposition. He is friendly towards visitors and very starved for affection.

Trudy Is a smaller brown mixed-breed dog with a graying snout that is shy of strangers but so starved for affection she is willing to cautiously approach.

Neither animal appears altered. Mr McGary would like the animals to be rehomed together if that is possible as they have lived their lives together.

They can contact Mr McGary at 706-669-7595
