The Famous question: What do you feed your pet?

Food for pets has come a long way since 20 Years ago, even just 5 years ago! Everyday we are making discoveries that uncover the complexity of animal nutritional needs, and how the pet industry can best incorporate that knowledge into their food.
We know that there are the "perfect diets" out there but thats if every dog and cat were the same. Every animal is different. Dobermans don't have the same diet as a King Charles, or maybe one dalmation can have meat and the other needs an egg protien diet. There are picky dogs who will only eat Pedigree, Then there are some that only want raw. Cats only wanting wet food vs dry, maybe the other way around. Pets having different health conditions that require a specific diet change. It can all be so confusing and overwhelming.
What you need to do is find what works best for your pet and if they do good on it thats what matters the most. Happy, Healthy, and full!
So I guess what we are trying to say is there is never one answer. There are basic necessities needed in their diet but other than that its a trial to find out what they will eat and what they can do good on. Tigard Pet Supply is here with you along the way!

During Bentley's visit he wanted to snag some treats. Mom said he could only get 2 things since his B-day is coming up soon! He agreed but wanted to make sure his treats lasted a while so he got their fusion food with some canned goodness, YUM!
Bentley loves Redbarn's collagen chews the most but never turns down any of their product. From their empty hooves to their air dried they have always been total steals with him!
He can't wait to come back and grab more!

4th of July is just around the corner! 🎆

Its about that time you start looking into those calming treats for your furry friends. ⬇️

🍀 CBD is a lot of people's go to but it does require some time to build up in those fat cells. Start giving them a dose every day about 4 days - a week before the big holiday!
😴 Melatonin can be a quick calming option. Give them their bed time treat 30 minutes prior and they might get better sleep than you!
🧘‍♀️ Calming aids that have other herbal ingredients can be a great match too. Look for chamomile, valerian, and passion flower.

If your dog is still anxious after trying these options, you can consider going to your local vet for a calming prescription. Please make sure you have at least a week of prep time!

Don't think your dog needs calming supplements? Make sure they have a toy for enrichment or give them plenty of cuddles!

With the weather getting warmer you might see an influx in some kittens! 🐱
If you are considering getting a new fur friend make sure you have done your research and stock up on the essentials!

Food - Every cat is different but you want to always make sure you find a good balance.
Cats naturally dehydrate themselves so making sure they have wet food in the mix will be great for them, as thats how they get most of their moisture. 💧
Fun Fact: Cats also have imprint eating habits. You want to be versatile with different textures and flavors. If you only feed them one kind of food by 6 months old there is a large chance they will reject other options down the road! 🛣️

Litter & Litter box - You want to make sure you have a bathroom spot for them! Most people try to stick with a digestible litter when the cat is young, that way if they eat it they are less likely to get compacted. Smart cat or worlds best are some options!

Toys - Get a few different things to try out! cats generally love boings, wands, and anything that has a feather attached! 🪶

Of course wide food bowls, water fountain, a bed, and a scratcher! Bonus points if you get a cat tree! 🌳

Puppy Season is here! 🐶
Whether you get a puppy from a shelter or a breeder, you want to make sure you have the essentials 📋

🐕Puppy food - Try to stick to the brand they gave you until they are around 7 months! If you still want to transition puppy food to a different brand we recommend doing a 3-4 week transition, as their tummies are still developing!

🚽Potty Pads - While they are so young you will want to keep those potty pads handy! Whether its for their kennel or the kitchen it will save you the clean up!

🐕‍🦺🚶‍♀️Training Treats - Stock up on those training treats because you will be using them left and right! ( starting training class? We have had people buy small bags of dog food to save some money. It works great! )

🏷️ Harness/Collar/Leash - Get them used to it while they're young so you don't have as many issues when they're older! Depending on reactivity it could be good to get them desensitized to a muzzle as well.

🦴 Toys/Chews - Every pet needs enrichment! Get those chews for when its too hot out for a walk. Goes through them to fast? Try a frozen kong! Super awesome for teething Pups. 😁

Food dishes, beds, and even a kennel are essentials!

We had a new friend pop by today! Everyone meet Bug
They have been recently adopted, and so of course as a celebration they needed a Churu!
