🐾 Flea and Tick Prevention Reminder 🐾

As we head into flea and tick season here in Oregon, this is a friendly reminder that ALL DOGS participating in our daycare, boarding, and grooming programs are required to be on an active flea preventative. Dogs are not required to be on a tick prevention but we HIGHLY encourage it!

Accepted forms of prevention include:
• Oral flea prevention
• Topical flea prevention
• Flea collars for grooming dogs only

✨️Flea collars are not permitted in daycare or boarding for safety reasons.

Fleas and even ticks can be picked up almost anywhere — including backyards, parks, walks, hiking trails, neighborhoods, apartment complexes, and everyday interactions with other pets. Even indoor pets can still be exposed.

While Bark Avenue maintains strict cleaning and sanitation protocols, requiring flea prevention for all dogs helps us provide the safest, cleanest, and most comfortable environment possible for every pup in our care.

If your dog is not currently on flea prevention, please speak with your veterinarian about the best option for your pup before their next visit.

A huge thank you to Tigard High School for inviting Bark Avenue to be part of your Career Fair!

We had such a great time meeting students, answering questions, quizzing them on their dog knowledge, and sharing all about the many career paths within the dog industry. From grooming, daycare, boarding, and training to veterinary medicine, pet nutrition, retail, dog walking, photography, dental hygiene, massage therapy, and even business ownership — the opportunities in this industry are endless.

The pet care industry is so important because pets are family, and the people working in this field help keep them safe, healthy, happy, and loved every single day. It takes compassion, patience, skill, and dedication to care for animals and the people who love them.

One of the things we love most about this industry is that it is also a trade career path. Many successful careers in the dog industry do not require a traditional 4-year degree. Hands-on experience, passion, work ethic, creativity, and specialized training can open the door to meaningful and rewarding careers doing something you truly love. College is not the right path for everyone, and learning a trade in something you are passionate about can be an amazing alternative and lead to a successful lifelong career.

We also love being a part of our local community and having opportunities like this to connect with students, support local schools, and help educate the next generation about careers they may have never considered before.

Thank you again to the students and staff for welcoming us. We loved seeing so much interest, excitement, and curiosity about the animal care world, and we hope we inspired a few future dog industry professionals along the way!

Dogs of the Month 🐾

Sloane is the perfect mix of speedy zooms and total snuggle bug. She loves playing with our littlest pups—especially her bestie, Tilly. Always a gentle soul, Sloane can just as easily be found curled up, snuggling her friends or leaning into her favorite daycare crew for some love.
Our sweet greyhound was chosen as one of our Dogs of the Month before we knew she’d be heading off to Arizona—and while we’re so excited for her next adventure, she will be missed dearly. Sloane will always be part of the Bark Avenue pack. ❤️
Enjoy that year-round sunshine, beautiful girl. We love you, Sloane!

Lucy has been part of the Bark Avenue pack since the very beginning—an OG girl through and through, and a regular in our daycare, boarding, and grooming program.
Her favorite thing about Bark? Beth. Beth… and Beth. 😌
You’ll almost always find Lucy right by her side, being the ultimate shadow, supervising from the office, or soaking up sunshine like it’s her full-time job.
She’s the quiet, loyal type—always nearby, always watching, always making sure everything is exactly as it should be. If there’s a cozy spot or a sunny patch, Lucy has already claimed it.

Oliver has an announcement!

As Bark Avenue continues to grow, we’re learning more every day about what it truly takes to run a safe, high-quality facility. As a newer and growing business, we’re still adjusting—and one thing we’ve learned is that our overhead and staffing costs are higher than we originally anticipated.
To continue providing a safe, well-staffed environment for your pups—and to maintain the level of supervision, care, and attention they deserve—we will be implementing a small $2 increase to our daycare and boarding pricing, effective June 1st.
Even with this change, our pricing remains more affordable than many local facilities. This adjustment allows us to properly support our incredible Bark Crew and continue delivering the safe, reliable, and high-quality experience you expect from us.
As a thank you, clients are welcome to purchase one extra daycare punch card at our current pricing prior to June 1st.
We truly appreciate your understanding and continued support as we grow. 🐾
