August Is Itchy Pet Awareness Month! 🐾
Is your dog scratching, licking, chewing, or rubbing more than usual??? 🤔🤔🤔

Itchy skin isn't always "just an itch." Allergies are a common cause of skin problems in dogs and can lead to:

🐾 Constant scratching or licking
🐾 Red, irritated skin
🐾 Recurrent ear infections
🐾 Chewing at paws
🐾 Hair loss or hot spots

Dogs can develop allergies to environmental allergens, food ingredients, or even flea bites. And sometimes, what looks like an allergy may actually be another skin condition.

The good news? Your pet doesn't have to live with the itch! 💙 If your dog is persistently itchy, please reach out to us and we can help determine what's causing the problem and find a treatment plan to keep them comfortable!

🥵 The heat is here, and our pets need extra protection! ☀️🐾

High temperatures can become dangerous for dogs much faster than many people realize. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are true emergencies, and even a short time outdoors can put your pet at risk.

Here are a few ways to help keep them safe:
🐶 Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
🏡 If possible, leave your pets at home instead of bringing them to outdoor events during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water and access to shade or air conditioning.
🔥 Remember that sidewalks and pavement can become hot enough to burn paw pads. If you can't comfortably hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 5–10 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.

🚨 Know the warning signs of heat stroke:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Thick drool
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness, stumbling, or collapse
• Extreme lethargy

If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary hospital right away. Quick action can make all the difference.

Sweet corn season is here! While a few kernels of corn are generally safe for dogs, corn cobs are a completely different story. 🚫🌽

Corn cobs are hard, difficult to digest, and can become lodged in the stomach or intestines, causing a life-threatening blockage that often requires emergency surgery. 🚨

Please help keep your pets safe by:

🗑️ Securing trash cans
🍽️ Never leaving corn cobs unattended
🐶 Keeping corn cobs completely out of your dog's reach
🦴Never giving a corn cob or piece of a corn cob as a treat or snack

If you suspect your pet may have eaten a corn cob, contact your veterinarian right away. Early intervention can make all the difference! 📞🐾
