This shows field bred Springers notably different from the show bred Springers. Our Springers are truly field bred Springers with very strong hunt prey drive, scenting abilities and intelligence.

Guided again today, the weather held off for the most part some light passing rain showers. 3 men from Mansfield area, a school teacher and two college age young men. Kansas is pictured in the center and Seneca to the right. Once again flushes were in close, with shot birds being retrieved to hand. An enjoyable experience. A mixed bagged hunt of pheasants, chukars and Hungarian partridge Saturday at Elkhorn Lake Hunt Club. The 4 guys came down from Cleveland it very enjoyable, this picture was part way through the hunt we bagged several more birds. Our Springers in the picture are Dot center and young Kansas on the right. It amazes me how much Kansas has improved this month from a "Wild Child" to a quality dog that provides a great hunt, with easily handling, finding birds and retrieving to hand. www.huntersspringers.com

An excellent hunt today guiding at Elkhorn Lake Hunt Club with a great group of people from Seneca County. Kansas came through finding, flushing birds and retrieving to hand. Seneca one of my English Springers actually holds point on the birds and flushes on command.

Guided today at Elkhorn Lake Hunt Club in the morning and afternoon. Kansas got to hunt in both AM and afternoon. It is amazing the improvement he's made in the last couple weeks or so. Kansas had gone from being a Wild Child that wasn't a team player to suddenly hunting in range and retrieving to hand. Usually it's incremental changes, but it's as if he had an epiphany. Over 40 years I've seen a dog that I struggled with for months and literally in one day put it together. Got another very young pup that is challenging for other reasons maybe this will help give me patience. Past years I've really enjoyed training my own line of Springers as they have been a pleasure to train, with their willingness and bringing out their natural ability.

Had a very good weekend with Cynthia Bunch Witt enjoyed the time with her. We were near Smock PA at a UFTA birddog competition for Amateur Flushing dogs 2 years of age or younger. Ruby a 2 year old Springer of ours did the best with placing 2nd place both days. Seneca did well also but missed out placing. My "Wild Child" aka Kansas at 6 months old handled extremely well hunting in range, retrieving to hand, it was extremely pleasing. The 3 month old pup Vegas made her debut runs with Cindy handling Vegas in the field, ironically it was Cindy's debut run. Both did very well meaning the 3 month old learned and got value out of the experience by Cindy making it a positive impact on the puppy.
