Project Duroville

Project Duroville Animal Samaritans is committed to reducing the suffering and overpopulation of animals in Duroville a They are socialized by the children who play with them.

Duroville is a trailer park located on the Torres Martinez Indian Reservation. This park gained notoriety two years ago when the Bureau of Indian Affairs sued to have the park closed due to its unsafe living conditions. Aside from the 2000 or so human residents, there are approximately 600 dogs that also call Duroville home. Some of the dogs are owned and cared for by residents but many have been

abandoned or were born homeless. The life of a Duroville dog is harsh; many live a life of hunger and suffering. Despite these conditions, most Duroville dogs are friendly to people. These animals deserve all the benefits that we can bring to them. They did not choose to be born into these conditions.

Another Animal Samaritans success story. Duro was rescued by Animal Samaritans staff during a Duroville vaccination clinic. He was hungry, cold and covered in ticks. To add insult to injury he had been shot by a BB gun during his stay at Duroville. 2 BB's were still embeded in his leg. Duro found his forever home at The 2010 Walk for the Animals.
